DoD SkillBridge: Emergency Management
Location: Corona, CA
This internship requires a four (4) month minimum time in the internship.​


Are youa Problem Solver? Risk Manager?  ProgramManager? Fast thinker? Strategic planner? Can you organize, train and equippeople and programs to prepare for natural, accidental or civil threats to ourcommunities?  How about experience inRisk management, accident prevention or accident mitigation?  You already have the skills needed to be ournext SkillBridge Intern! This opportunity is less than 40 minutes away from thecoastline of Southern California! 

 

OurHost Partner, Corona Fire Department (State of California), is seeking anEmergency Management DoD SkillBridge Intern who is interested in living /working in the Corona, CA Region and trained in FEMA operations OR has aserious interest in Emergency Management. Emergency Management is a fast-growingand a largely diversified career path.


Interested candidates should be willing to train at location in CA during theinternship and must be willing to relocate / live and work in sunny SouthernCalifornia if there is a job offer post-internship - OR take your new skills back to your home state!.  
This is NOT a remote opportunity.

Overview
In this Internship you will be able to apply your Knowledge,Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) in Emergency Management while continuing to learnmore skills and acquiring a greater expertise in this field.  You will experience On-the-Job training on howEmergency Management works within the State of California.

In thisposition you will learn:
How to administer, supervise, coordinate or assist withCity-Wide Emergency Management programs, projects, and services

  • How to ensureprogram compliance with pertinent federal, state, local, and city-drivenpriorities, mandates, objectives, laws, guidelines, and regulations
  • How toperform a variety of technical, administrative, and programmatic work insupport of assigned programs.
  • How to be responsible for developing and carrying the City’scomprehensive disaster and emergency preparedness (with administrative guidanceand direction from the Fire Chief.)
  • How to manage emergency services planning and development,resources identification, interagency response coordination, and publiceducation.

    **Interested candidates will receive a fulldescription of all duties, responsibilities, and more. Candidates may be placedin “Assistant” or “Manager” tracks after review of skills and experience.

 OJT and Formal Training may include:

  • FEMA Emergency Management Institute – Emergency ManagementProfessional Program - local and potential travel to (Emmitsburg, MD)
  • California Specialized Training Institute – Emergency ManagementCredentialing & Certificate Program
  • Riverside County Operational Area Emergency Management Training– Planning, Response, Recovery, Mitigation


Vets2PM Provides:
  • Mentorship and guidance via regular SkillBridge Intern Zoom Meetings.
  • PM Fundamentals course, Resume writing, LinkedIn optimization, and interview skills course. 
  • Other free resources, including an electronic copy of 'How to Speak Civilian Fluently'.

Not all internships include certification training by Vets2PM, as many host companies include their own internship-focused training instead. If selected for an internship with Vets2PM please read your approval email, letter, and training plan to be sure you understand what is included in your internship
