Position Summary
The National Account Manager (NAM) is responsible for driving profitable growth through the development, management, and expansion of strategic foodservice accounts across the United States. This role focuses on acquiring and growing national multi-unit Food service Accounts.
The successful candidate will possess a deep understanding of the foodservice supply chain, including manufacturers, distributors, and multi-unit operators. They will serve as a strategic business partner to customers, identifying opportunities for growth while aligning customer needs with Schweid & Sons' business objectives.
This position requires a highly motivated sales professional who excels at relationship building, strategic selling, negotiation, business planning, and cross-functional collaboration.
Business Development & Sales Growth
- Identify, prospect, and secure new national account opportunities.
- Develop and execute strategic account plans to achieve annual sales, volume, margin, and profitability objectives.
- Build and maintain relationships with key decision-makers, culinary teams, procurement leaders, and executive stakeholders.
- Lead all phases of the sales process, including prospecting, presentations, negotiations, implementation, and ongoing account management.
- Develop customer-specific growth strategies and Joint Business Plans (JBPs).
- Consistently work toward achieving and exceeding sales, volume, and profitability
Strategic Customer Management
- Serve as the primary relationship manager for assigned national account customers and prospects.
- Understand customer needs, challenges, menu strategies, supply chain requirements, and growth priorities.
- Present Schweid & Sons’ product portfolio, capabilities, innovation pipeline, and value proposition in a compelling and professional manner.
- Develop and deliver new business presentations, product proposals, business reviews, and customer-specific growth plans.
- Influence buying decisions through strong product knowledge, category expertise, data-driven insights, and consultative selling.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with internal teams, including Sales Leadership, Marketing, Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, R&D, Customer Service, and Quality Assurance.
- Coordinate internal resources to support customer needs, product development, pricing, forecasting, onboarding, and ongoing account execution.
- Work with internal stakeholders to ensure customer commitments are aligned with operational capabilities and profitability expectations.
- Support the development and execution of new products, custom programs, and process improvements based on customer needs.
- Communicate account activity, opportunities, risks, and priorities clearly across the organization.
Pipeline, Reporting & Business Analytics
- Maintain accurate and timely account information, opportunity updates, and sales activity within Salesforce or the company’s CRM platform.
- Manage the sales pipeline from prospecting through close, including opportunity tracking, follow-up actions, and probability updates.
- Use data, sales metrics, KPIs, and analytical reporting to evaluate account performance and identify growth opportunities.
- Leverage tools such as Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Salesforce, and Power BI to support customer presentations and internal decision-making.
- Prepare regular updates on customer activity, pipeline health, sales performance, and key initiatives.
Profitability & Commercial Discipline
- Develop a balanced approach to managing customer needs while protecting Schweid & Sons’ profitability and operational priorities.
- Participate in pricing discussions, negotiations, program development, and margin management.
- Understand the financial impact of customer programs, product mix, specifications, freight, service requirements, and promotional activity.
- Negotiate effectively to create sustainable and mutually beneficial business outcomes.
Innovation, Marketing & Brand Value
- Utilize Schweid & Sons’ marketing assets, product expertise, traditional marketing support, social media, and technology to create value for customers.
- Identify opportunities for innovation, product development, menu applications, and customer-specific programs.
- Challenge the status quo, bring new ideas to the table, and help drive continuous improvement within the organization.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of foodservice sales experience managing regional and/or national accounts.
- Proven track record of success in growing sales, developing new business, and managing strategic customer relationships.
- Strong understanding of the foodservice industry, including manufacturers, distributors, brokers, operators, and multi-unit account structures.
- Demonstrated ability to influence customer decisions and sell value-based solutions.
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
- Strong negotiation, organization, problem-solving, and follow-up skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and customer opportunities simultaneously.
- Comfortable working independently in a remote, virtual, and mobile environment.
- Willingness and ability to travel 40% or more depending on customer needs, including travel by automobile and air.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and CRM systems.
- Experience using Salesforce or similar CRM tools.

Travel Requirements
This role requires regular travel to customer meetings, trade shows, industry events, plant visits, and internal company meetings. Travel is 40% on average, but may vary based on business needs.

What We Offer
- The expected compensation for this role is $140,000- $175,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. Final compensation will be discussed during the interview process.
