Job description

What You'll Do:

As a Claim Assistant 2, you will get to assist in the claim process by providing the following services: Communicate with providers, policyholders, and claimants for information and perform clerical tasks such as handling mail, faxing, mailing letters and building online claim records, etc.

  • Communicate with and maintain relationships with internal and external customers. Provide and assist with gathering claim information as directed by the Claim Analyst, as well as handle telephonic intake of claim information. Call medical providers to obtain accurate information to assist with the claim process.
  • Perform miscellaneous clerical tasks in support of the claim process. Initiate ways to improve the team and work efficiency. Maintain accurate monthly miscellaneous reports as required.
  • Analyze and process claim mail and on-line follow-ups for maintenance of disability claims and issuing accurate benefit payments as needed.
  • Provide training/coaching and act as a resource for the claim assistants team.
  • Perform other job-related duties or special projects as required.
Who You Are:
  • 2+ years of claims or customer service experience or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.
  • Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent typing skills.
  • Proficient with desktop applications such as MS Office and Internet browsers.
  • Ability to effectively navigate within numerous software and web applications.
  • Ability to quickly learn how to use new computer applications and call center systems.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
  • Ability to learn and understand a broad range of products and apply that knowledge by referencing appropriate tools and resources.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
Salary Range Information: Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Salary Range: $18.17 - $32.31 / hour Salary Details:

The following locations are examples of market-specific salary ranges across different geographies. 

  • Wichita, KS: $18.17 - $24.23 / hour
  • Des Moines, IA: $19.18 - $25.58 / hour
  • Charlotte, NC: $20.19 - $26.92 / hour
  • Chicago/Minneapolis: $22.21 - $29.62 / hour
  • Los Angeles/New York City: $24.23 - $32.31 / hour
Time Off Program: Personal Time Off (PTO) is provided to hourly (non-exempt) employees and provides a set amount of accrued time earned each pay period. Employees can use their PTO for vacation, personal or short-term illness. Pension Eligible: Yes Additional Information:

While this role is a remote opportunity regardless of location, if you reside in the Des Moines, IA area, work may require you to visit the office from time to time.
