Position Summary:

At Arch, our operations teams enable the business to grow and scale by providing differentiated service while focused on efficient processes. As a Sr. Underwriting Service Specialist, your role is to ensure account service delivery meets and exceeds our customer’s expectations. The Sr. Underwriting Services Specialist utilizes customer service skills, established processes, and various software applications to achieve individual and unit targets and to ensure Service Level Agreements (SLA’s) are met. The Sr. Underwriting Service Specialist works cross-functionally and is responsible for analyzing key pieces of information and determining the appropriate course of action. Through demonstrated leadership skills and technical expertise, the Senior Underwriting Service Specialist may provide training or guidance to colleagues, assist with and address problem resolution, work distribution and/or quality assurance. This position collaborates with underwriters, corporate resources, and global COEs to ensure we meet both internal and external commitments thereby contributing to the overall results of the unit/department. 

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Evaluate financial statements, including debt-to-equity ratios, to assess the financial viability of third-party administrators. 

  • Perform audit functions on client accounts. 

  • Select certificates for review and test against contractual agreement rate sheets to verify accuracy of consumer purchases. 

  • Assist in data evaluation and reconciliations. 

  • Evaluate dashboards using Power BI. 

  • Research market tends for EVs and other vehicles to assess potential business impacts. 

  • Research the regulatory environment and present findings on potential business impacts. 

  • Provide service delivery for moderately complicated accounts for policy & endorsement issuance 

  • Policy Rating and/or initial entry into rating model 

  • Processing of various underwriting transactions and requests 

  • Communicates with various internal functions as well as brokers to serve as key contact for assigned accounts 

  • Booking/Invoicing 

  • Coordinate other services within Arch Insurance as needed 

  • Serve as Lead for work distribution, problem solving/issue resolution or business process expert as needed 

  • Provide training or guidance to less experienced colleagues, as needed

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or Insurance Designation preferred 

  • 3-5 years’ experience in Insurance industry

For individuals assigned or hired to work in the location(s) indicated below, the base salary range is provided. Range is as of the time of posting. Position is incentive eligible.

75,000 - 95,000/year CAD

  • Total individual compensation (base salary, short & long-term incentives) offered will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to geographic location, scope & responsibilities of the role, qualifications, talent availability & specialization as well as business needs. The above pay range may be modified in the future.
