Your Mission:
Responsible for providing analytical support for transportation operations, primarily through analysis of transportation metrics, route performance, carrier efficiency, and cost management. This role evaluates inbound and outbound transportation performance across all Distribution Centers (DCs), ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, and supports the development and implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs).
This position works cross-functionally with transportation, warehouse, safety, and finance teams to provide actionable insights, improve operational efficiency, and drive performance improvements. How You’ll Make an Impact:
Responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and reporting on transportation systems and activities, including Transportation Management Systems (TMS), routing and optimization tools, fleet performance, and third-party carrier data.
Establish, track, and analyze key transportation metrics (e.g., on-time delivery, route efficiency, freight spend, detention, claims, fuel usage). Identify trends, variances, and performance gaps, and develop actionable improvement plans.
Work with transportation leadership to design and implement scorecards, dashboards, and reporting tools to measure DC and carrier performance.
Partner with safety, compliance, and quality assurance teams to ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements, including Department of Transportation (DOT), Food & Drug Administration (FDA), OSHA, and CSA standards.
Conduct root cause analysis on transportation-related issues (e.g., accidents, service failures, delays, chargebacks, claims) and recommend corrective actions.
Support transportation leadership in managing third-party carrier performance, including cost analysis, service levels, and contract (RFP/RFQ) evaluations.
Assist in identifying opportunities for cost reduction and operational efficiencies, including fuel optimization, routing improvements, and asset utilization.
Support network and route design improvements to optimize delivery efficiency and service levels.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (warehouse operations, real estate, finance, IT) to ensure transportation capabilities align with DC capacity, customer demand, and business growth plans.
Develop, document, and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for transportation processes and continuous improvement initiatives.
Lead or participate in cross-functional transportation and supply chain projects as assigned by leadership.
Who You Are:

Minimum of three (3) years of experience in transportation, logistics, or distribution operations, preferably in food distribution or a multi-site environment.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel) and data analysis tools.
Ability to manage ambiguity, prioritize multiple initiatives, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated self-motivation and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Where You’ll Work:
Ability to travel to Distribution Centers (DCs) as needed (typically up to 25–50%) in accordance with corporate travel policies.
Exposure to transportation and warehouse environments, including ride-alongs, yard operations, and varying temperature conditions.
Occasional travel via tractor-trailer ride-alongs to observe route execution and driver performance.
