Global Commodity Manager – Custom Parts & Strategic Sourcing
Tampa FL (Onsite)

Perm Role

We are seeking a highly driven and strategic Global Commodity Manager – Custom Parts & Strategic Sourcing to lead sourcing, supplier strategy, cost management, and supply chain development for custom fabricated parts and related commodities supporting a Build-to-Print (BTP) manufacturing environment across multiple sites.

This role is responsible for developing and executing global commodity strategies focused on cost reduction, supplier consolidation, risk mitigation, quality improvement, dual sourcing, and continuity of supply. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge of custom manufacturing processes combined with expertise in strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations, and cross-functional leadership.

The successful candidate will work closely with Engineering, Operations, Quality, Program Management, and Supply Chain teams to support product development from prototype through mass production while ensuring suppliers meet expectations for cost, quality, delivery, and service.

Key Responsibilities

Commodity & Supplier Strategy

  • Develop and execute global commodity strategies for custom fabricated parts and related commodities to support operational and financial objectives.
  • Drive supplier consolidation, dual sourcing, risk mitigation, and long-term supply chain resiliency initiatives.
  • Identify, evaluate, qualify, and develop competitive global suppliers capable of supporting complex Build-to-Print manufacturing requirements.
  • Establish strategic supplier partnerships to improve pricing, lead times, technology capabilities, quality, and service performance.

Strategic Sourcing & Cost Management

  • Lead all RFI, RFQ, and RFP activities for assigned custom fabrication commodities.
  • Conduct detailed quote analysis, should-cost modeling, benchmarking, and total cost of ownership (TCO) evaluations.
  • Negotiate pricing, payment terms, rebates, inventory programs, tooling agreements, lead times, and other commercial terms.
  • Drive annual cost reduction initiatives and productivity savings across assigned commodities.
  • Monitor market trends, raw material fluctuations, and supply chain risks to proactively develop mitigation strategies.

Technical & Manufacturing Support

  • Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for custom fabrication technologies and related manufacturing processes.
  • Partner with Engineering and suppliers on design-for-manufacturability (DFM), material selection, manufacturability improvements, and technical problem-solving.
  • Support prototype, new product introduction (NPI), and production ramp activities to ensure successful launches and continuity of supply.
  • Collaborate with Quality teams on supplier performance management, corrective actions, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Supplier Performance & Relationship Management

  • Own supplier relationships for assigned commodities, including delivery, quality, responsiveness, capacity, and cost performance.
  • Conduct supplier business reviews, site visits, and capability assessments.
  • Monitor supplier KPIs and drive accountability for continuous improvement.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for critical supplier issues and supply shortages.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Collaborate with Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations, Program Management, Finance, and Executive Leadership to align sourcing strategies with business objectives.
  • Present sourcing strategies, supplier recommendations, cost reduction initiatives, and risk assessments to leadership teams.
  • Support global standardization initiatives for suppliers, pricing structures, contracts, and payment terms.

    Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or a related technical field.
  • 7+ years of experience in commodity management, strategic sourcing, procurement, supplier development, or supply chain management.
  • Strong experience sourcing custom fabricated parts and manufacturing-related commodities.
  • Proven success leading RFQ/RFP processes, supplier negotiations, and commercial agreements.
  • Strong analytical and financial acumen with experience performing TCO analysis, cost modeling, and market assessments.
  • Knowledge of fabrication technologies, manufacturing processes, materials, lead times, and supplier capabilities.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and supplier relationship management skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems, Excel, and supply chain analytics tools.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Engineering
    • Purchasing and Procurement
    • Contract Negotiation
    • Material or Production Planning
    • Operations or Supply Chain Management
    • Material Cost Control
    • Master Production Scheduling
    • Technical Procurement or Planning involving custom, mechanical, or electrical components

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within EMS, aerospace & defense, medical device, industrial manufacturing, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of supplier qualification methodologies and manufacturing quality standards.
  • Experience managing global supplier networks across North America, Mexico, and Asia.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain risk mitigation, business continuity, and dual-sourcing strategies.
  • Experience supporting Build-to-Print (BTP) manufacturing operations.
  • APICS, CPSM, CPM, or related professional certifications.
