About the Role

REMOTE in SF Bay Area; Portland, OR; Dallas, TX; Seattle, WA, or Kansas City Metro

As Senior SEO & Web Strategy Manager, you will own Responsive’s marketing web platform and organic search strategy. You will be responsible for the technical health, performance, and scalability of our website while driving the SEO and AI search (GEO) strategy needed to grow our visibility in a rapidly evolving generative-first search landscape.

You will work hands-on alongside a small, skilled team — an SEO/GEO manager and a senior front-end developer — setting the standard through your own output as much as through the direction and mentorship you provide. For the right candidate with leadership experience, there is a path to growing into that responsibility as the function evolves. You will report directly to the VP of Growth.

This person must be capable of owning and operating a modern web platform end to end — understanding how the site is built, deployed, and maintained, including front-end code, deployment pipelines, headless CMS architecture, and web server configuration. SEO and GEO strategy are a critical part of the role but secondary to technical platform ownership.

Essential Functions

Own the Web Platform
  • Own the development, performance, and reliability of the Responsive marketing website, built on Next.js, React, Tailwind CSS, and a headless CMS (Prismic)
  • Maintain and evolve the CMS architecture — content models, page types, and component library — so marketing and content teams can move quickly without developer bottlenecks
  • Serve as the primary technical escalation point for site incidents, own the deployment governance process including GitHub PR approvals for high-risk changes, Vercel configuration, firewall and DNS oversight, and one-click rollback procedures
  • Drive ongoing performance optimization: Core Web Vitals, page speed, lazy loading, caching, and mobile-first standards across key pages
  • Lead front-end development on high-priority initiatives including new product and solution pages, conversion experiments, and campaign landing pages
  • Maintain AI readiness of the site: structured content, markdown support, schema implementation, and technical foundations that enable LLMs to accurately parse and surface Responsive content

Drive SEO & GEO Strategy and Execution
  • Lead keyword strategy and content optimization across our core commercial query set — RFP, proposal, DDQ, SRM software, and adjacent AI-driven categories
  • Drive on-page and off-page SEO improvements across product, solution, comparison, and blog pages, with clear prioritization and weekly progress against targets
  • Own our AI search strategy: structured data, schema markup, llms.txt, FAQ optimization, and citation rate improvement across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, and other LLM-driven surfaces
  • Work with SEO content and AI visibility vendors to operationalize monitoring and reporting, moving from reactive snapshots to proactive action

Own Web Analytics and Tracking Integrity
  • Maintain the integrity of our web analytics stack: GA4, Google Tag Manager, and Search Console
  • Ensure all changes to shared tracking infrastructure follow a documented review and sign-off process with affected stakeholders before execution
  • Build and maintain a clear performance dashboard connecting organic visibility to pipeline, and translate data into actionable insights for cross-functional stakeholders

Collaborate Cross-Functionally
  • Partner with the content team and SEO vendors on content production, page refreshes, and keyword cluster expansion
  • Coordinate with paid media and ABM teams to ensure tracking continuity and shared attribution
  • Work with web developers to implement technical SEO improvements, CMS updates, and schema changes
  • Support the PLG/Flywheel launch by integrating SEO and conversion optimization into key user flows

Elevate Team Output
  • Set a high standard for analytical rigor — trendline analysis and GSC exports, not screenshots
  • Provide day-to-day direction and quality feedback to the team
  • Model strong cross-functional communication: proactive stakeholder updates and coordination before execution on changes that affect shared systems

Knowledge & Skills

You are:

  • A web platform owner — you understand how a modern marketing site is built, deployed, and maintained, and you take pride in its technical quality and performance

  • A practitioner first — you own the roadmap and do the work, not just direct others

  • Fluent in AI search: you understand how LLMs source and cite content and have a clear point of view on how B2B companies should adapt organic strategy for a generative-first world

  • Analytically rigorous — you work from GSC exports and trendline data, form hypotheses, test them, and report against baselines

  • A strong cross-functional partner who documents decisions and coordinates with stakeholders before making changes that affect shared systems

  • AI-forward, with genuine curiosity about how the web development and search landscape is evolving

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of hands-on experience owning and operating a modern marketing web platform in a B2B SaaS organization, including front-end development, deployment pipelines (Vercel or equivalent), version control (GitHub), and headless CMS architecture

  • Strong front-end development proficiency: React, Next.js, Tailwind CSS, and headless CMS environments (Prismic, Contentful, or similar)

  • Expert-level command of web analytics and tracking infrastructure: GA4, Google Tag Manager, and Search Console, including the ability to build, audit, and maintain tracking — not just read reports

  • Solid SEO foundations: technical SEO, Core Web Vitals, on-page optimization, and keyword strategy across a commercial query set

  • Working knowledge of AI search (GEO/AEO): how LLMs source and cite content, and how to structure a site and its content to improve citation rates across generative search surfaces

  • Experience with CRO, A/B testing, and conversion path optimization on B2B SaaS websites

  • Proficiency in SEO tools such as SEMrush or Ahrefs; familiarity with AI search visibility and monitoring platforms is a strong plus

  • Experience managing or mentoring web or SEO team members is a plus

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Computer Science, or a related field
