Job description

Full time salary role for a experience IT Manager with interoperability engineering experience. 
  • This role can be remote (must be based in US).  But will need to come to Minneapolis, MN for first week. 
  • Work authorization status requirements: US Citizen or GC holder

WHAT YOU'LL DO: Seeking a Manager, IT Interoperability Engineering to lead a team responsible for healthcare data integrations and interoperability solutions across clinical and business systems. This role will oversee the design, development, support, and modernization of interfaces connecting EHR, RIS, PACS, billing, and external healthcare platforms while ensuring reliable data exchange and exceptional customer experience.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise in HL7 integrations with proven leadership experience managing engineering teams, driving interoperability strategy, and partnering with business stakeholders to deliver scalable healthcare integration solutions.

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Interoperability Engineers and Product Managers.
  • Manage hiring, performance management, coaching, and career development.
  • Establish best practices, standards, and frameworks for interoperability development and support.
  • Oversee the full interface development lifecycle, including project planning, prioritization, and delivery.
  • Promote Agile methodologies including sprint planning, backlog management, and continuous improvement.

Interoperability Strategy & Delivery

  • Lead the design and delivery of healthcare interoperability solutions utilizing HL7 and related integration technologies.
  • Partner with product managers and business stakeholders to define interface requirements and technical solutions.
  • Drive interface modernization initiatives and integration roadmap planning.
  • Ensure seamless connectivity across clinical, operational, and financial systems.
  • Serve as a key liaison between business teams, customers, and technical resources.

Operations & Support

  • Oversee interface monitoring, troubleshooting, and issue resolution.
  • Ensure compliance with service level agreements and data integrity standards.
  • Manage on-call support processes and critical incident response.
  • Maintain system documentation, interface specifications, and operational procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Healthcare IT, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in software development, healthcare IT, or interoperability engineering.
  • 3+ years of people leadership or engineering management experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience with HL7 integrations (required).
  • Experience designing, implementing, and supporting healthcare data interfaces.
  • Experience working with healthcare systems, clinical workflows, and healthcare data.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work across technical and business teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Mirth Connect (highly preferred).
  • Experience with SQL and relational databases.
  • Experience leading healthcare integration or interoperability teams.
  • Knowledge of healthcare interoperability standards and interface engines.
  • Experience with software implementations and enterprise integration projects.

The salary range for this type of role is approximately $120,000 - 130,000. This range is an estimate and not a guarantee of compensation.
