Job description

Duties: Sustainability Consultant, BranchPattern, Inc., Kansas City, MO.

Develop sustainability project goals, objectives, initiatives, or strategies in collaboration with other sustainability professionals, and monitor or track sustainability indicators, such as energy usage, natural resource usage, waste generation, and recycling. Support the Materials Team by reviewing drawings, CAD and Revit files for quantity estimations and material selections. Create and provide architectural specs to clients to reach target sustainability thresholds. Develop iterative embodied carbon simulations for industrial and commercial projects to evaluate material choices and building design and suggest alternatives. Analyze energy modeling reports to provide a complete carbon impact assessment that includes both operational and embodied carbon. Work with general contractors for accurate construction data and provide feedback and alternatives in the design stage. Evaluate buildings for the Living Building Challenge’s Zero Carbon accreditation. Perform Life cycle Assessment utilizing ISO 14004 and EN 15978. Create Whole Building Life Cycle Reports and credit documentation for LEED and WELL projects. Conduct solar assessments for buildings to evaluate the viability and return on investment for solar panels based on site geology, location and building design. Evaluate Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) data internationally for new products. Work with the Materials Team and the Green-Building Certification Team for training and completion of LEED credits for various projects.

 

Requirements:  Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Sustainable Building Studies, Building Science, Sustainability Studies, or a related field.  Must have experience working in Project Administrator, Sustainability Consultant, Building Sustainability Specialist or related occupation.

 

Two years of experience in sustainable design and consulting to include:

  • Performing Life Cycle Assessments and material analysis using Athena, EC3 and Cove Tool.
  • Microsoft Office suite (including Excel), Bluebeam Revu, Adobe Suite, and Revit.
  • Performing technical analysis, modeling and calculations related to sustainable design.
  • Carbon emissions reduction focused on cost effectiveness and technical feasibility.
  • Reviewing construction documents for quantity estimations and material selections.
  • Creating U.S. Green Building Council LEED compliant WBLCA reports with data analysis and graphic illustrations.
  • Creating Carbon Accounting reports compliant with GHG Protocol, EN and ISO standards.
  • Researching current compliance updates for project-specific certifications or governmental or international standards.

 

This position requires WELL Performance Testing Agent certification.
