JOB DESCRIPTION:

Senior Manager Market Access- Abbott Diabetes Care - Belgium and Luxembourg

This role is part of our Diabetes Care division in Belgium and Luxembourg and is a field-based position.

We’re focused on helping people with diabetes manage their health with life-changing products that provide accurate data to drive better-informed decisions. We’re revolutionizing the way people monitor their glucose levels with our new sensing technology.  

As Senior Manager Market Access you will play a pivotal strategic role in shaping and executing market access strategies across Belgium and Luxembourg. Acting as a trusted partner to the business, you will drive sustainable market share growth by leading payer engagement, contracts & tenders, and innovative access models, while inspiring and developing high‑performing teams.

This is a senior leadership role combining strategy, negotiation, people leadership and external influence, with strong visibility at local and EMEA level.

Your key responsibilities

Strategic leadership & business impact

  • Define and execute long‑term Market Access, Contracts & Tenders strategies for BELUX
  • Act as a strategic advisor to the management team on reimbursement, payer strategy and public policy
  • Contribute actively to the BELUX Vision and Strategic Business Plan
  • Identify new business opportunities, assess ROI, and translate strategy into measurable growth
  • Monitor public payer dynamics, policy evolution and market trends impacting patient access

Market access, contracts & negotiations

  • Lead high‑stakes negotiations with public and private payers, hospitals, pharmacy networks and purchasing groups
  • Drive innovative and financial contracting models to secure access and growth
  • Oversee the BELUX Contracts & Tenders desk, ensuring high‑quality and timely submissions
  • Represent BELUX in EMEA tender taskforces and cross‑country initiatives

People & stakeholder leadership

  • Lead, coach and develop Market Access and Contract Management teams, fostering performance and engagement
  • Build and leverage strong relationships with key external stakeholders and decision makers
  • Act as an internal “management consultant”, leading strategic commercial projects across functions

Who you are

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Business, Marketing, Economics or equivalent experience
  • MBA or Health Economics background is a strong asset
  • Minimum 7 years in the pharmaceutical / healthcare industry
  • At least 5 years in Market Access, Reimbursement or Business Development
  • Solid understanding of sales, marketing and commercial excellence
  • Experience in diabetes and/or blood glucose monitoring is a strong plus
  • Strong understanding of pricing, reimbursement and payer systems
  • Strategic thinker with a hands‑on, results‑driven mindset
  • Excellent negotiation, influencing and stakeholder management skills
  • Confident leader and communicator, comfortable with senior audiences
  • Fluent in English and French or Dutch (written and spoken)
  • Proficient in MS Office
