Mainframe System Programmer (SMPE)

About the role:
We are seeking an experienced Mainframe System Programmer to support and maintain enterprise z/OS environments. This is a remote opportunity for candidates with strong system programming expertise and hands-on experience with IBM mainframe technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Install, upgrade, and maintain z/OS and related IBM/BMC/ISV products.
• Perform software maintenance using SMP/E (RECEIVE, APPLY, ACCEPT).
• Administer and support RACF and other security-related products.
• Manage system initialization, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
• Support Parallel Sysplex environments and related technologies.
• Work with JES, PARMLIB, USS, Coupling Facility, and system configuration components.
• Manage hardware configurations using HCD and IODFs.
• Participate in Disaster Recovery planning, testing, and execution.
• Support storage management activities with DFSMS.

Required Skills:

• Strong experience with z/OS installation, upgrades, and maintenance
• In-depth knowledge of SMP/E
• Experience with RACF and mainframe security administration
• Strong understanding of Sysplex, JES, PARMLIB, USS, and Coupling Facility
• Experience with HCD/IODF management
• Knowledge of DFSMS and storage concepts
• Experience participating in Disaster Recovery exercises
