Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Database Engineer with deep expertise in SQL Server administration, database modernization, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience leading large-scale database migration initiatives, optimizing enterprise SQL Server environments, and modernizing database platforms within cloud-native architectures.
This role requires a proactive engineer who can independently drive technical initiatives, collaborate effectively in a remote asynchronous environment, and communicate confidently with both technical and business stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Project 1: SQL Server Migration & Cloud SQL Modernization
- Administer and optimize Cloud SQL for SQL Server environments.
- Design and implement multi-tenant database models.
- Lead large-scale SQL Server database migrations, including multi-terabyte environments.
- Conduct performance benchmarking and capacity analysis before and after migration.
- Perform advanced query tuning and performance optimization.
- Develop and execute automated data validation processes using Google Cloud Data Validation Tool (DVT).
- Ensure data integrity, availability, and operational excellence throughout migration activities.
Project 2: Database Modernization & Cloud Infrastructure
- Modernize enterprise SQL Server platforms and database architectures.
- Design and support cloud-native solutions leveraging Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Deploy and manage containerized workloads using Cloud Run.
- Assess and address application dependencies involving:
- Active Directory (AD)
- .NET Framework applications
- Microsoft enterprise infrastructure
- Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and cloud engineering teams during modernization initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of SQL Server database administration and engineering experience.
- Strong experience with:
- SQL Server administration
- Database performance tuning
- Query optimization
- Database migration and modernization
- Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Experience with Cloud SQL for SQL Server.
- Experience migrating large-scale enterprise databases to cloud environments.
- Strong understanding of multi-tenant database architecture.
- Experience with database validation and reconciliation methodologies.
- Experience working with:
- Active Directory
- .NET applications
- Microsoft enterprise environments
- Experience deploying or supporting containerized applications using Cloud Run.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Google Cloud Data Validation Tool (DVT).
- Experience with database modernization programs and cloud transformation initiatives.
- Knowledge of containerization technologies and cloud-native architectures.
- Previous experience supporting enterprise-scale migration projects.
Soft Skills:
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven success working in highly asynchronous remote environments.
