Data Engineer (m/f/d) - GCP, Contract

This is a remote position.

We are seeking an experienced GCP Data Engineer to join an exciting project within the financial and capital markets sector, focusing on the development of robust data pipelines and cloud-native architecture. In this role as a GCP Data Engineer, you will process large historical datasets and optimise data models to drive critical financial analytics.

• Type: Contract, 1 FTE  
  

• Duration: Contract until October, with a strong possibility of extension
  

• Location: Remote with only occasional onsite visits to Germany
  

• Compensation: Daily rate available
  

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable data ingestion and preprocessing pipelines within a cloud environment.
  

• Develop robust ETL/ELT workflows to ensure seamless data integration and structure.
  

• Work extensively with BigQuery to manage tables, enhance performance, and design efficient data models.
  

• Handle and process large-scale historical datasets, specifically focusing on complex time-series data.
  

• Ensure high data quality, rigorous validation, and proper versioning across all data streams.
  

Requirements

• Proven commercial experience working as a GCP Data Engineer within a Google Cloud Platform ecosystem.
  

• Strong technical proficiency with GCP tools, specifically BigQuery and Google Cloud Storage (GCS).
  

• Advanced SQL skills and extensive experience building cloud-native data pipelines.
  

• Demonstrated experience handling large-scale datasets, data structures, and pipeline automation.
  

• Full professional proficiency in English 
  

• Eligibility and residency in the EU, EEC, UK, or Switzerland.
  

Preferred Requirements

• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), specifically Terraform.
  

• Prior experience working with time-series data or working within complex, data-heavy environments such as financial services.
  

• Strong background in data modelling, performance tuning, and optimizing complex database queries.
  

• German speaking is nice to have.
