About the role
Shutterfly is looking for a Sr. Director, Pricing & Promotions to lead pricing, promotional, and shipping strategy across the Shutterfly portfolio. This leader will shape how we drive growth, margin, and customer engagement through thoughtful pricing architecture, disciplined promotional planning, and strong cross-functional execution.
This role reports to the SVP, Category Management and works closely with Category Management, Growth Analytics, Finance, Marketing, Ecommerce Merchandising & Operations, and Demand Planning. The right candidate brings strong business judgment, a customer-first mindset, and the ability to turn data into clear decisions that improve performance.
What you’ll do
- Own the long-term pricing, promotions, and shipping strategy across product categories, ensuring alignment with category, brand, and company goals.
- Build annual, seasonal, and event-based promotional frameworks that balance revenue growth, margin performance, and customer value.
- Establish pricing guardrails and promotional principles that improve consistency, support healthy discounting, and protect profitability.
- Partner with Category Management, Marketing, and Growth Analytics to develop short- and long-term financial plans tied to pricing and promotional strategy.
- Lead in-season forecasting and scenario planning to identify opportunities and risks early and recommend adjustments quickly.
- Oversee pricing and promotional performance reporting, including scorecards, dashboards, and post-event recaps that drive better decision-making.
- Analyze offer effectiveness, pricing elasticity, conversion trends, margin impact, and customer response to make clear recommendations for improvement.
- Monitor competitive pricing and promotional activity and translate market insights into actionable changes.
- Partner closely with product and technology to Improve the tools, processes, and operating rhythms that support pricing and promotional planning at scale.
- Lead and develop a high-performing team, setting clear expectations and creating accountability for results.

What you’ll bring
- 8+ years of experience in pricing, promotions, merchandise planning, category planning, or a related retail or ecommerce function.
- 5+ years of experience leading teams and building strong cross-functional partnerships.
- Proven experience developing pricing and promotional strategies that drive both revenue and margin.
- Strong financial and analytical skills, including deep familiarity with P&L analysis and forecasting.
- A track record of turning complex data into clear insights, recommendations, and business actions.
- Strong understanding of digital retail drivers, customer behavior, and promotional best practices.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders and partners across the organization.
- Experience building new processes, improving planning methodologies, and creating business reporting that supports better decisions.
- Comfort operating in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment where priorities can shift quickly.
- A practical, solution-oriented approach and a bias toward action.
Preferred qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Experience with Tableau, Power BI, or other business intelligence tools preferred.
- Experience in a consumer, retail, ecommerce, or digitally driven business preferred.
The compensation package for this role is based on multiple factors, such as job level, responsibilities, location, and candidate experience. The base pay ranges included below are specific to the locations listed and may not be applicable to other locations.
California : [$212,750- $255,000]
Connecticut and New York: [$212,750-$255,000]
Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota and Washington: [$194,500-233,250
Nevada: [$180,250-$216,000)
Maryland and New Jersey: [$180,250- $216,000)
Hawaii : [$194,500-233,250)
This opportunity can be remote, but candidates must reside in a state in which Shutterfly is registered to do business. This includes all US states except District of Columbia, North Dakota, Mississippi, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Wyoming.
