Job description

Summary

The Principal Architect – Data Governance is responsible for shaping, positioning, and evangelizing Logicalis’ data governance and information protection strategy within its core IT portfolio. This role functions as a senior technical seller and trusted advisor, positioning data governance as a foundational IT and security capability that enables secure collaboration, regulatory compliance, risk reduction, and operational resilience.

This role works closely with Sales, the Overwatch Office, and the Security, Cloud, Modern Work, Hybrid Infrastructure, and Managed Services teams to ensure governance solutions are platform-aligned, commercially relevant, and clearly articulated to customers. The role focuses on pre-sales strategy, customer advisory, and technical alignment, and does not focus on analytics, BI, or data science.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Data Governance Strategy & Architecture

  • Defines the enterprise data governance and information protection strategy aligned to core IT platforms with clear customer value propositions and use cases.
  • Establishes governance architectures, patterns, and standards integrated with security, identity, cloud, and collaboration services including but not limited to:
  • Microsoft 365 & Collaboration Platforms (Teams, SharePoint, Exchange, information protection, retention)
  • Security Services and the Overwatch Office (data risk, executive visibility, compliance readiness, identity governance)
  • Cloud and Hybrid Infrastructure Platforms
  • Identity, Access Management, and Zero Trust Architectures

Portfolio & Offering Alignment

  • Embeds governance consistently across existing practice portfolios and service offerings in a way that is easy for sellers and architects to position and explain.
  • Identifies gaps and near-term enhancement opportunities aligned to supported platforms based on customer demand, market trends, and sales feedback.
  • Establishes governance reference architectures, patterns, and tooling standards to support repeatable, scalable sales motions.
  • Ensures governance integrates naturally with cloud, security, identity, and operations without creating standalone, delivery-heavy engagements.

Sales Enablement & Customer Advisory

  • Serves as a senior technical seller and advisor for governance-related customer engagements.
  • Partners with Sales to shape deals, influence strategy, and articulate governance value in early-stage customer conversations.
  • Enables Sales and Architects with clear, outcome-focused governance narratives, positioning guidance, and use-case-driven storytelling.
  • Leads or supports executive-level customer discussions, workshops, and roadmap conversations related to data governance and information protection.
  • Raises governance fluency across Solution and Field Architects, ensuring they can confidently sell—not just deliver—governance solutions.
  • Provides architectural oversight and escalation in support of deal success and customer confidence.
  • Ensures consistency across sales, delivery, and managed services teams while keeping customer-facing messaging simple, practical, and commercial.

General

  • Demonstrates and actively promotes an understanding and commitment to the mission of Logicalis through performing behaviors consistent with the organization's values.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations as well as policies and procedures of Logicalis to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical and professional behaviors.
  • Supports and conducts self in a manner consistent with customer service expectations.
