This is a remote position.

Job Title: Video Journalist – U.S. Politics & Current Affairs

Shift Timings: We have two shifts in this, [Early Morning or Evening, 6 days per week, mid-week off]

Salary: Rs. 4 - Rs. 7 LPA (Based on experience and selection process)

About The Role

We are looking for a passionate and news-driven Video Producer – U.S. Politics & Current Affairs to join McGill Media's growing newsroom and create compelling video content around American politics, national affairs, and major global developments that impact U.S. audiences.

The ideal candidate is a news enthusiast with strong editorial instincts, excellent research skills, and the ability to transform complex issues into engaging visual stories for digital platforms. This role is ideal for someone who follows the news closely, enjoys identifying meaningful story angles, and wants to help shape coverage for a large international audience.


Requirements

Key Responsibilities:


  1. Stay on top of U.S. politics, national affairs, and global stories that shape American life, demonstrating strong dedication and passion for tracking news consistently.
  2. Identify important news developments, conduct in-depth research, and analyze complex topics to pitch compelling video story ideas.
  3. Produce videos in various formats tailored for multiple social media and digital platforms.
  4. Create engaging video narratives that simplify complex political and current affairs topics for a broad audience.
  5. Use basic video editing tools to edit, package, and publish multimedia content.
  6. Collaborate effectively with editors, producers, writers, and other team members across newsroom initiatives and projects.
  7. Monitor breaking news developments and contribute to timely coverage when required.
  8. Show willingness to learn new journalism skills, take initiative, and handle additional responsibilities as needed.
  9. Ensure content meets editorial standards for accuracy, clarity, and audience engagement.


Requirements:


  1. Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, Media Studies, Political Science, or a related field.
  2. Strong interest in U.S. politics, current affairs, international relations, and news coverage.
  3. Excellent research, analytical, and storytelling abilities.
  4. Basic proficiency in video editing software and multimedia content production.
  5. Familiarity with major social media platforms and digital content formats.
  6. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  7. Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven newsroom environment.
  8. Highly organized, self-motivated, and comfortable working remotely.
  9. Demonstrated curiosity, initiative, and eagerness to learn.

Preferred Qualifications:


  1. Prior experience in journalism, digital media, video production, or news publishing.
  2. Experience creating short-form video content for platforms such as YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, or X.
  3. Understanding of U.S. political systems, elections, policy discussions, and current affairs.
  4. Familiarity with newsroom workflows and digital publishing environments.
  5. Comfortable working independently while collaborating across teams and time zones.
