Commercial Lines Trucking Underwriter

Bilingual: English/Spanish 220 License Required Must Reside Outside Florida Commercial Lines Trucking Experience Required

Location: Remote (must reside outside of Florida)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM ET
Compensation: $30 per hour

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Commercial Lines Trucking Underwriter to join our team. You must have direct experience in commercial lines trucking insurance, be fluent in both English and Spanish, and hold an active 220 Insurance License. This remote position requires you to reside outside Florida. The underwriter will answer inbound agency and client calls, provide exceptional underwriting support, and actively participate in selling by identifying upsell and cross-sell opportunities for commercial trucking insurance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Answer inbound calls from agencies and clients, providing bilingual (English/Spanish) support for all commercial trucking insurance inquiries.
  • Sell and promote commercial lines trucking insurance: identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities based on customer and agency needs.
  • Review and underwrite commercial trucking insurance applications, renewals, endorsements, and policy changes, ensuring compliance with underwriting guidelines.
  • Evaluate risk, determine eligibility, set coverage and pricing within authority, and make clear, timely underwriting decisions.
  • Support the sales process for agency partners, including quoting, coverage explanations, and documentation follow-up.
  • Handle questions and requests regarding eligibility, underwriting, endorsements, policy changes, renewals, and cancellations.
  • Maintain exceptional customer service during every call, ensuring a professional and knowledgeable experience.
  • Accurately document all interactions, decisions, and transactions in the agency management system and CRM tools.
  • Resolve customer and agency issues at first contact when possible, escalating complex cases as necessary.
  • Collaborate efficiently with underwriting, operations, and internal teams on issue resolution and policy management.
  • Perform related administrative tasks to ensure smooth agency and policy operations.

Qualifications

  • Active 220 Insurance License (required).
  • Must reside outside the state of Florida (required).
  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (required).
  • Direct commercial lines trucking insurance underwriting experience (required).
  • Demonstrated success in a customer-facing role answering calls, providing insurance support, and participating in sales.
  • Minimum of 2 years working as a commercial trucking underwriter or in a similar underwriting support capacity.
  • Proficiency with commercial auto/trucking insurance products, coverage, and underwriting standards.
  • Experience with agency management systems (AMS), CRM software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills; able to explain insurance concepts clearly and confidently.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Eastern Time
