Clinical Data Platform Modernization – IT Subject Matter Expert
Remote Contract Position - supporting EST hours

Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced IT Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the modernization of a Clinical Data Sharing platform. This individual will serve as a strategic advisor and technical lead, helping define future-state platform capabilities, translate business and member requirements into technical specifications, and support the evaluation and selection of a technology vendor.

The role will focus on modernizing a clinical trial data-sharing environment by improving platform functionality, user experience, interoperability, security, and scalability to support evolving data-sharing needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical lead and advisor for a Clinical Data Platform modernization initiative.
• Translate stakeholder and member requirements into platform specifications and technical requirements.
• Lead development of an RFP and support the vendor evaluation and selection process.
• Provide expertise on clinical trial data-sharing platforms and related technology best practices.
• Advise on data architecture, interoperability, security, access models, and platform design considerations.
• Assess current and emerging technologies to support future platform capabilities and growth.
• Collaborate with leadership, business stakeholders, and cross-functional working groups to define the future-state technology vision.
• Partner closely with existing program management resources to align technical recommendations with broader project objectives.

Required Experience

• Deep technical expertise in clinical trial data platforms, clinical data architecture, or related healthcare/life sciences data environments.
• Experience designing, architecting, or modernizing complex data-sharing platforms.
• Strong understanding of data interoperability, integration strategies, and information exchange models.
• Experience developing technical requirements and supporting technology vendor evaluations and selections.
• Knowledge of security, governance, and access models for shared-data environments.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and business stakeholders.

Preferred Experience

• Experience leading or supporting an RFP process and technology vendor selection.
• Experience with clinical trial data-sharing platforms or similar clinical research technology environments.
• Experience working within consortium, collaborative, or multi-stakeholder data-sharing environments.
• Prior hands-on platform architecture and design experience preferred; candidates with strong leadership of architecture and vendor teams will also be considered.
