Job description

Position: Senior Fabric Architect Consultant
Location: Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
Work Model: Primarily Remote (Must Reside and Work Within Canada)
Renewal Options: Two (2) Additional 1-Year Extensions
Maximum Contract Term: 3 Years
Estimated Hours: 2,000 Hours per Year

Client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Fabric Architect Consultant to design, build, and maintain a Microsoft Fabric enterprise reporting environment supporting critical housing systems, analytics, and business intelligence initiatives.

The selected consultant will lead Microsoft Fabric architecture, Power BI development, enterprise reporting modernization, data governance, and stakeholder enablement initiatives.

Responsibilities
• Design and implement enterprise Microsoft Fabric architecture.
• Build and maintain Fabric Dataflows, Pipelines, Notebooks, Warehouses, and Lakehouses.
• Design scalable enterprise data models and reporting architecture.
• Implement Medallion Architecture standards within Microsoft Fabric.
• Develop Power BI Dashboards and Enterprise Reporting Solutions.
• Design and develop Paginated Reports using SSRS Report Builder.
• Create certified datasets and semantic models.

Integrate data from:
  • Excel
  • SharePoint
  • HOME System
  • Partner Portal
  • Find Housing Platform
    • Establish data governance frameworks and reporting standards.
    • Optimize report performance, scalability, usability, and data quality.
    • Gather business requirements from non-technical stakeholders.
    • Translate business needs into actionable reporting and analytics solutions.
    • Train business users on self-service reporting and analytics capabilities.
    • Provide guidance on Fabric best practices, governance, and enterprise reporting strategy.
    • Support ongoing modernization and reporting transformation initiatives.

Education
Preferred Degree in:
• Computer Science
• Mathematics
• Statistics
• Related Technical Discipline


Required Experience
• 5+ years of Power BI development experience.
• Expert-level Power BI expertise.
• Strong experience with DAX.
• Strong experience with Power Query.
• Experience developing Paginated Reports (SSRS Report Builder).
• 3+ years Microsoft Fabric experience.
• 3+ years Data Governance experience.
• Experience designing certified datasets and semantic models.
• Experience with Fabric Dataflows.
• Experience with Fabric Pipelines.
• Experience with Fabric Notebooks.
• Experience with Fabric Warehouses.
• Experience with Fabric Lakehouses.
• Experience gathering requirements from business stakeholders.
• Experience building enterprise reporting environments.


Preferred Certifications
• Microsoft Certified: Fabric Data Engineer Associate (DP-700)
• Microsoft Certified: Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate (DP-600)
