Job description

About Synapticure

Synapticure is the largest, most comprehensive specialty care clinic in the country for those living with neurodegenerative diseases. Founded by patients and caregivers living with these diseases, we are redefining the care journey for diseases like Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and ALS in all 50 states.

With a virtual care model, we democratize flexible, specialized care for patients and caregivers across the country. Our team creates personalized guided journeys focused on education and empowerment, while relentlessly working to facilitate access to clinical trials and expert multidisciplinary care providers like neurologists, psychologists, and care coordinators who collaborate to provide comprehensive patient care.

To serve the millions of patients and caregivers living with neurodegenerative diseases, Synapticure requires determined, compassionate team members who are eager to engage patients who would benefit from Synapticure’s care.

About the Role

As the Finance Director, you will serve as the strategic pillar for Synapticure’s forward-looking financial runway. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), you will own enterprise-wide financial forecasting, corporate budgeting, and strategic modeling processes.

This role requires a forward-thinking, highly strategic builder rather than a traditional financial reporter. You will act as a critical translator—synthesizing big, open-minded ideas from our growth team into robust financial frameworks, while integrating them seamlessly into our master model. You will work cross-functionally to evaluate new payer partnerships, care delivery models, and grant-funding streams. This is a high-impact role perfect for a finance leader who thrives in a fast-paced, early-stage environment.

The Day to Day
  • Design, build, and maintain sophisticated, dynamic financial models from scratch to evaluate forward-looking deal pipelines, new business opportunities, and scenario planning.

  • Own the execution and consolidation of the annual budgeting process, ensuring new strategic initiatives are accurately captured in rolling forecasts.

  • Collaborate closely with the Director of Revenue Operations to align on revenue cycle trends without managing the underlying operations, and partner with the Controller on budget-vs-actual (BVA) tracking to lighten executive touch on month-end decks.

  • Jump seamlessly between modeling complex Value-Based Care (VBC) initiatives on the clinical care delivery side, and tracking clinical trials, life sciences initiatives, and grant funding sources for our CURES team.

  • Partner with the CFO to synthesize financial data into high-quality pitch decks, financial analyses, and strategic commentary for the Board and institutional investors.

  • Take the reins of existing operational metrics and unit economics to drive clear, data-backed strategic decisions across teams.

  • Evaluate and suggest modern FP&A software tools to scale our reporting capabilities beyond our current QuickBooks setup.

  • Minimum Qualifications
  • 7-8+ years of progressive financial experience, with a distinct preference for early-stage startups, digital health, private equity, or strategic corporate finance environments.

  • Advanced, elite-level spreadsheet modeling skills. You are highly comfortable working natively in a Mac environment using Google Sheets/Excel to clean, structure, and model ambiguous data sets.

  • Proven ability to quickly master highly complex business models and multi-faceted revenue streams.

  • A resilient, high-hustle approach to problem-solving. You are an agile thinker who can pivot quickly on their feet without requiring rigid case studies or hand-holding.

  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Deep experience in healthcare delivery is strongly preferred (due to modeling complexity); exposure to value-based care, capitation, or fee-for-service mechanics is a massive plus.

  • Familiarity with clinical trials, grant funding mechanics, or life sciences workflows.

  • Comfort working alongside standard systems like QuickBooks, with an eye toward future implementations of modern FP&A platforms or ERPs like NetSuite.

  • Familiarity with leveraging AI tools and frameworks to increase efficiency and automate workflows.

  • Salary & Benefits
  • Position is full time/exempt with competitive salary and benefits package including health insurance offering. Salary range for this role is competitive depending on the candidate’s level of experience

  • Opportunity for growth and development

  • Fully remote position

  • 401(k)

  • Medical, Dental and Vision coverage for you and your family

  • Life insurance and disability

  • Remote work stipend

  • Travel Requirements
This position is remote and work would be based in your home. The necessary technology would be provided to work out of your home. Travel to headquarters in Chicago, IL for occasional meetings may be expected.
