Job description

Our Why

Datacom works with organisations and communities across Australia and New Zealand to make a difference in people’s lives and help organisations use the power of tech to innovate and grow.

About the Role (your why)

As a Product Account Manager, you will be part of our dynamic Product Sales and Account Management team, focused on building long-term client relationships and driving growth across major accounts. Your primary mission will be to maximise revenue from key clients while ensuring customer satisfaction and strategic alignment. You’ll manage enterprise-level support and service activities, negotiate complex deals, and collaborate across teams to deliver exceptional outcomes for our customers.

Our offices are based in Wellington. We like to bring people together in person when we can, but we are mindful of the benefits of working from home for work/life balance. We therefore leave it to you and the team you join to figure out what works best!

What you’ll do

At the moment, as a Product Account Manager you will be focused on:

  • Planning and overseeing enterprise-level support and service activities for a designated client or group of clients.
  • Ensuring complete customer satisfaction and delivering business value through effective account management.
  • Formulating, implementing and managing strategic business plans to achieve revenue targets and sales quotas.
  • Managing revenue, growth, productivity and profit for your portfolio, and facilitating deeper customer engagement.
  • Leading negotiations between Datacom, the client, and third-party organisations.
  • Working with sales and support groups to demonstrate the value of Datacom offerings and identify opportunities for expansion.
  • Conducting product demonstrations, preparing proposals, tenders, bids, and managing Account Management plans.
  • Maintaining product training and certifications to support assigned client accounts.
  • Coordinating internal teams to deliver outcomes that strengthen and retain client relationships.
  • Promoting a principle-driven health and safety culture and ensuring compliance with company policy.

We are a pretty agile company, and are keen to respond to customer, technology and internal stakeholders’ changing requirements—and this can mean we evolve in our roles to meet those needs.

What you’ll bring

Required experience:

  • 5+ years’ sales experience and 3+ years’ account management experience.
  • Opportunity management forecasting using Salesforce
  • Demonstrated success managing people and teams.
  • Strong financial management practices and understanding of costs versus profitability.
  • Outstanding communication, negotiation, and persuasive sales skills.
  • Proven ability to manage complex issues and translate client needs into complete solutions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, IT, Science, Engineering, Economics, or a related discipline.

Nice to have:

  • Knowledge of the Outsourced IT services market and Infrastructure project requirements.
  • Experience configuring and maintaining networking/communications infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of competitors and market positioning.
  • Specialist certifications across major IT hardware and software vendors.
