Job description

We are currently looking for a Test Automation Engineer for a 100% remote position supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). This role supports a product line responsible for software products, middleware platforms, system integrations, health data integrations, and Electronic Health Records (EHR) integrations. The selected candidate will design, develop, and maintain automated testing solutions to ensure high-quality, scalable, and reliable software delivery in an Agile and DevSecOps environment.

The candidate must reside within the continental US.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with software developers, analysts, and functional testers to develop and maintain automated test solutions.
  • Develop end-to-end test automation frameworks and solutions for middleware, API, and data layer testing.
  • Design and execute functional and non-functional tests aligned to user stories and project requirements.
  • Perform data validation using SQL queries and tools such as Query Analyzer and Redgate.
  • Plan and execute regression, integration, and performance testing activities related to releases and enhancements.
  • Collaborate with QA leads and engineering teams to define and improve enterprise test strategies and automation practices.
  • Automate testing within CI/CD pipelines and support AWS-based testing processes including Lambda and Canary validations.
  • Troubleshoot software defects with developers and business stakeholders to identify and resolve root causes.
  • Maintain accurate test documentation, defect tracking, and reporting within JIRA and related tools.
  • Identify opportunities to improve test execution efficiency, automation coverage, and delivery timelines.
  • Contribute to team objectives and take on additional responsibilities as needed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or another technical or engineering discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in software testing and test automation.
  • Strong experience executing both manual and automated test scripts.
  • Experience testing middleware applications using Java, Node.js, and AWS technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with Selenium, TestNG, and Java scripting for automation development.
  • Strong knowledge of JIRA for test management and defect tracking.
  • Experience with accessibility testing tools such as ANDI and JAWS Reader.
  • Understanding of AWS Step Functions, State Machines, Canary deployments, and CloudWatch Logs.
  • Expertise designing and implementing automation frameworks for APIs and data layers.
  • Experience with ReadyAPI/SoapUI and Groovy scripting for API automation testing.
  • Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work closely with developers and stakeholders in Agile environments.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) or other healthcare-related organizations.
  • Experience leveraging AI tools to generate or optimize test scripts.
  • Familiarity with Rally, JIRA Test Automation, and artifact repository tools.
  • Experience working in Agile, DevSecOps, and multi-stakeholder environments.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a government clearance.
