Job description

About the Role

We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Dockhand / Driver to support freight and aircraft handling operations across Brisbane Airport and surrounding depot locations.

This is a hands-on role involving freight sortation, loading and unloading aircraft and containers by hand, and operating across both airside and landside environments. Driving duties will make up approximately 10% of the role and include MR truck runs between TGE depots, airport driving tasks, tug operation, towing airport rolling stock, and occasional customer collections.

The roster for this position is Sunday to Thursday. Sunday shifts operate from 4:00pm to 12:00am, with double time rates applicable. Monday to Thursday shifts operate from 9:00pm to 5:00am, with approximately 30% loading duties involved across those shifts.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Loading and unloading aircraft, trucks, vans, and containers by hand

  • Sorting and handling freight safely and accurately by hand

  • Palletising, shrink wrapping, stacking, and preparing freight for transport

  • Operating conveyors and ensuring freight is compliant with handling requirements

  • Completing barcode scanning and maintaining accompanying freight documentation

  • Identifying banned or non-compliant freight and escalating issues to supervisors

  • Identifying damaged or non-compliant freight and escalating where required

  • Handling Dangerous Goods in accordance with procedures

  • Performing on-airport and off-airport driving duties as required

  • Ensuring deliveries are completed safely, efficiently, and on time

  • Arriving ready to commence shifts at designated start times
