Responsibilities

  • Review clinical information on referred children from internal and outside sources to determine appropriateness and refer families to other community resources as needed; coordinate with other departments and external referral sources to facilitate referrals to and from Applewood Centers
  • Manage admission waitlists and referrals and schedule initial appointments for the Office Based Therapy department; verify funding for clients (Medicaid, private insurance, and local/public funders) and assess eligibility with funders
  • Use the agency Electronic Health Record to open and update client information, schedule appointments, complete forms, and conduct in-person intake and assessments (including CANS); perform administrative intake tasks as needed

BENEFITS AND SALARY:
The salary range is $50,000-52,000 with some work-from-home flexibility and open to full-time or part-time (minimum 24 hours) schedules. Please note that Friday availability is a requirement for this position.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling or related field
  • A State of Ohio Social Work, Counseling or MFT License; an independent license (LPCC, LISW, or LIMFT) is preferred, but willing to consider LSW, LPC, or LMFT license with strong assessment experience.
  • Experience with working with children and families in the mental health field, including with diagnosing and assessments
  • Strong clinical skills including expertise in assessments, systemic family therapy, crisis intervention, family education, behavioral interventions and/or substance abuse therapy.
  • Sensitivity in relating to persons of varying backgrounds and demonstrate ability to work with diverse groups of people possessing various strengths, aptitudes and abilities. 
  • Ability to perform job responsibilities with a high degree of initiative and independent judgment.  
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills and effective interpersonal skills.
  • Practical and creative problem solving skills
  • Proficiency in using Agency computer systems and software as required to perform essential job functions.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and third party billing concepts preferred.

POSITION SUMMARY:
We are seeking an Intake & Admissions Specialist to be the “front door” of the Agency to families seeking community and office based behavioral health services for their children at Applewood Centers. This is a great opportunity to connect with families at the beginning of the treatment process and help them get connected with and started in services. This is an office based position with some flexibility for remote work, and has no productivity requirement. As the Intake Specialist, you will help families determine the appropriate program to meet their child’s needs, and handle all referrals coming into the agency from providers and professionals in the community.  Additionally, you will complete in person intake and assessments for a given number of new clients to help them get started with mental health services in the agency.
Responsibilities include:
  • Responsible for coverage of the Intake Phone line and Intake email during office hours
  • Provide initial clinical review based on verbal screening over the phone, and determine the most appropriate Agency program to suit the client’s need
  • Review clinical information on children referred to programming from both internal and outside referral sources to determine appropriateness and refer families out to other community resources as needed
  • Coordinate and communicate with other agency departments and external referral sources to facilitate referrals to and from Applewood Centers
  • Manage admission waitlists and referrals and schedule initial appointments for the Office Based Therapy department
  • Work to ensure proper funding for clients, including with Medicaid, Private Insurance Companies and local, public funders, which includes verifying insurance on the computer, communication with private insurance companies, and assessment for eligibility with other funders
  • Use the agency Electronic Health Record to open clients, update client information, schedule appointments, and complete forms.  Also use Microsoft office to track referrals and wait lists.
  • Complete in person intake and assessments for a given number of new clients, which can include administrative intake paperwork, mental health assessments, CANS assessments, and other assessments/paperwork as needed.
  • Other tasks as assigned by supervisor as new intake and assessment related needs arise within the agency
