Mechanical Design Engineer (AO-13911)

ABOUT THE CLIENT:

Our Client is an Australian-owned manufacturer and supplier specialising in window furnishings, blinds, shutters, awnings, and window covering systems.

JOB SUMMARY:

Designing new products and the improvement of existing systems in the window furnishings industry. Dealing with patent and trademark applications. Specifying and testing new and existing products. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work with the R&D team to create new and innovative products
  

• ​Designing new products as identified by the Sales Team
  

• Improving existing designs, including incorporating modern technology
  

• Communicating with Patent Attorneys to ensure our client does not infringe on existing patents, registered designs or trademarks
  

• Incorporate functionality into designs that can be patented and provide information to Patent Attorneys to assist in patent specifications
  

• Ensuring our client's product offer not only meets industry standards but exceeds them
  

• Provide information on product specifications to other departments, including QC, Operations and Purchasing and Suppliers
  

• Uphold the Business’s Organisational Values and our ACTIVE culture
  

• Understand and uphold the policies and procedures of the business
  

Requirements

Skills:

• Qualified Mechanical Engineer (essential)
  

• Competent on Solidworks CAD design software (essential)
  

• Competent on 3D design and working with 3D printers (essential)
  

• Competent on 3D Composer software (not essential, but a benefit)
  

• Demonstrated aptitude for working with technology based systems or the ability to learn new systems quickly
  

• Demonstrated ability to interact with the business’s Research and Development Team and to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  

• Demonstrates a commitment to one’s personal safety and to ensuring a safe and healthy environment within the workplace

Required Experience:

• 3 Years Mechanical Design Experience
  

• Solidworks CAD experience essential
  

• Building industry experience an advantage
