  • Assists in planning and execution of region-level development initiatives (e.g., workshops and retreats) and supports related tasks such as file management, vendor liaison, invitations and event support

Job description

YOUR POSITION WITH TNC 

 

The Development Officer works towards meeting the Oceania region’s strategic fundraising priorities through administrative, coordination and operational functions. The Officer is a key function in the Oceania Development team and reports to the Director of Development, Oceania. The Officer is responsible for a variety of key fundraising and donor stewardship activities to support fundraisers based in the Oceania region, Australia, New Zealand, Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea.  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 

 

The Development Officer assists the Oceania Development team to coordinate administration, team meetings, compiling briefing documents, prospect research and will on occasion attend donor meetings. , The Officer will assist drafting of thank you letters, making thank you calls,  working closely as intermediary between Develop Operations and the team to ensure reports, mailing lists, database BBCRM updates, donor journeys are compiled and completed in a timely manner. The role will assist with the onboarding new development staff as needed. The Officer will assist to ensure data accuracy of the teams work and ensure it is reflected in BBCRM . The Officer also supports Leadership in tasks regarding the planning, execution and ensuring that the team are clear on their priorities and are set up for success in meeting and exceeding fundraising targets. . The Officer will maintain advanced skills with the systems in order to execute tasks and provide support to team members. The Officer will implement TNC’s best practices and processes in order to improve effectiveness based on an in-depth understanding of related policies and procedures. The Officer will effectively communicate and collaborate widely with internal stakeholders, such as the broader Asia Pacific Development team, Finance and Marketing and Communications team and other departments as required This role will assist staff in actioning decisions, ensuring best practice donor stewardship, and improving workflows. The Officer Is the cornerstone of the Oceania Development team, ensuring we work seamlessly together and cross departmentally. 

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES & SCOPE 

 

  • Prepares and sends out or makes Oceania  Thank you emails and calls, issues donor receipts,  and responded to donor enquiries in a timely manner. Assists with  scheduling of the Director of Development’s calendar, s, including  the Oceania Development team meetings (agendas, minutes, actions and follow through), ,  Cross-department meetings, Donor meetings (with prospect research and briefing documents, objectives and actions/next steps.

  • Assists in the planning and execution of region-level development  initiatives. E.g.,  workshops and retreats 

  • Coordinates and manages region-wide mailing lists, including  webinars, annual reports, events via BBCRM, MailChimp, etc.  

  • Conducts donor due diligence check via Bridger Screening Tool (as needed) and assists with submitting internal corporate registry applications. 

  • Assists in region-level projects and tasks, such as file management, vendor liaison, invitations, event support, etc.   

  • Provides a variety of general support to the Oceania Development teams on a case-by-case basis. 

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2 years’ experience or equivalent combination. 

  • Experience building relationships with staff, external stakeholders or similar.  

  • Experience managing databases, generating reports and interpreting data. 

  • Experience working and communicating with a wide range of people. 

  • Experience prioritizing and managing varied activities and competing priorities to meet deadlines.  

  • Experience, coursework, or other training in principles and practices of relevant field.  

 

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS 

 

  • Knowledge of or experience in working in the fundraising/philanthropy sector. 

  • Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated. 

  • Ability to analyze information for the purpose of coordinating and planning activities and solving problems. 

  • Ability to implement processes and strategic program goals. 

  • Ability to coordinate projects, prioritize workflow and work under pressure. 

  • Ability to use existing technology to achieve desired results.  

  • Ability to apply research skills. 

  • Ability to build strong productive working relationships with external and internal stakeholders 

  • Experience with database administration and spreadsheet software, including managing, manipulating and tracking data. 

  • Strong organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
