Job description

About Crimson Global Academy

Crimson Global Academy (CGA) is a world-leading online school with students in more than 30 countries and a teaching staff drawn predominantly from New Zealand, Australia and the United Kingdom. Every one of our teachers is a subject expert, and our strong pastoral care network ensures students learn in a safe and inclusive environment.

Students at CGA study at a level that matches their academic competence rather than their age, which means a significant proportion of our cohort is working ahead of their peer group. Combined with curriculum flexibility, cutting-edge technology and the opportunity to accelerate, CGA offers an unusually rich environment for students with the drive to excel. Our academic results speak for themselves.

Transforming the way students learn is central to what we do, and we are rapidly integrating AI to support student learning in meaningful, classroom-ready ways.

Please note: you must hold a New Zealand teaching registration to qualify for this position.

The role

CGA is looking for a Head of Science to lead our Science faculty across the IGCSE and A Level programmes. This is a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced science educator who wants to shape the strategic direction of a high-performing department, develop a team of subject specialists, and influence the future of online science education.

You will be accountable for academic standards across Biology, Chemistry and Physics, the consistency and quality of teaching, and the continued integration of new technologies (including AI) into how science is taught and learned at CGA.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the Science department, including line management of subject teachers across Biology, Chemistry and Physics

  • Oversee curriculum design and delivery for Pearson Edexcel and Cambridge International IGCSE and A Level Science qualifications

  • Set and uphold standards for teaching quality, assessment, feedback and student progress

  • Drive academic excellence and stretch students working ahead of their year level

  • Champion the thoughtful integration of AI and other technologies into science teaching and learning

  • Coach, mentor and develop teachers through observation, feedback and targeted professional development

  • Contribute to whole-school leadership, strategy and decision-making

  • Engage with parents, students and prospective families to communicate the strength of CGA's science offering

  • Contribute to extracurricular life through clubs, competitions, Olympiads or enrichment activities

  • Help maintain the pastoral culture that keeps students safe, included and supported

About you

  • Qualified teacher holding current New Zealand teaching registration

  • Significant secondary teaching experience in Science, with deep subject expertise in at least one of Biology, Chemistry or Physics

  • Proven departmental or faculty leadership experience

  • Strong understanding of IGCSE and A Level Science curricula, ideally across Pearson Edexcel and Cambridge International (advantageous)

  • A track record of excellent academic results and the ability to extend high-achieving students

  • Genuinely curious about how AI can support and enhance student learning

  • Confident teaching and leading in an online environment, with strong digital fluency

  • A real commitment to contributing beyond the classroom

  • Collaborative, growth-minded, and energised by working with motivated students from around the world

What we offer

  • The chance to lead science at one of the most innovative online schools globally

  • A community of subject-expert colleagues, predominantly across New Zealand, Australia and the United Kingdom

  • Flexibility to work from anywhere

  • Access to cutting-edge technology and AI tools that genuinely enhance teaching practice

  • Bright, motivated students who study at the level of their academic competence

  • A strong pastoral network and inclusive school culture

  • Ongoing professional development and the opportunity to help shape the future of education

If you're ready to lead science education at a school that is rewriting what is possible for students globally, we'd love to hear from you.
