Description/Job Summary


POSITION DESCRIPTION

As Construction Manager I, you will be responsible for acting as the site manager/superintendent at various construction and environmental remediation projects. Our clients include the USEPA, USACE, NASA, and other organizations, and our project sites are located across the United States and its territories. Projects include but are not limited to landfill remediation and cap construction, demolition, mine-waste cleanup, groundwater remediation, contaminated soil and sediment excavation, utility installation, and PFAS mitigation. This is an on-site position located at varying project sites and requires approximately 70% travel.



Responsibilities/Duties

 

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING 

 

The Construction Manager I responsibilities include:

  • Serve as the construction manager/site superintendent for all work phases of remediation and construction projects. Travel will be required approximately 70% of the time. 
  • Manage activities performed by field crews including multiple subcontractor personnel to ensure efficient operations and adherence to the project schedule.
  • Lead meetings and interface with project managers, technical staff, and clients to support all components of project work. 
  • Review and document completed work to ensure compliance with project specifications and construction drawings.
  • Procure materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks relating to schedule, quality control, and health and safety.



Minimum Requirements

 

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL 

 

The ideal candidate will need the following as a foundation for success in this role:

  • The ability to travel at least 70% of the time to support projects ranging in duration from approximately 1 month to 1 year.
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience serving as a Construction Manager, Site Superintendent/Site Supervisor, and/or Quality Control Manager for environmental remediation projects.
  • Experience working on large project sites with contaminated soil, sediment, and groundwater subject to CERCLA and RCRA regulations.
  • Experience working on USACE, EPA, and other federally regulated remediation construction projects.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, organization, and team-building skills. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment in a team-oriented setting to manage multiple activities with excellent attention to detail. 
  • Ability to prepare and track quality control reports, personnel safety records, and field logs. 
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of software, specifically in Excel and Word. 
  • Current certifications including: 40-hour HAZWOPER, 8-hour HAZWOPER refresher, OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety, USACE CQM-C, and first aid/CPR/AED.


 

Desired Qualifications

 

WHAT YOU NEED TO STAND OUT – Preferred, not required

  • Ability to conduct health & safety and quality briefings for large groups of on-site personnel.
  • Experience leading implementing the USACE 3-Phase Quality Control System. 
  • Experience working with Microsoft Project.
  • Experience with the USACE Resident Management System (RMS).

  • Writing reports/proposals/or technical documentation
  • Leading a team or coordinating multiple priorities

WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions (heat/cold/rain/snow/etc.)
  • Must be able to travel up to 70% yearly
  • May work in environments with loud noises/dust/or hazardous materials
  • Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Remote work environment
  • Potential for longer days up to 12 hours in duration

Details

 

Work Schedule: This position is primarily field oriented and will range from 8-12 hours daily. HGL remediation projects typically occur 5 to 6 days per week. Projects are long duration and HGL attempts to maintain rotations for work life balance approximately every 4 weeks for a duration of 1 week off. This rotation is a target and not guaranteed.

Office Type: Project site, field work. Office work is minimal.

Travel: A minimum of 70% of each month is onsite.

 

A favorable pre-hire drug test and physical are required.


All positions are subject to a pre-hire education and driving record verification.

The annual salary for this position ranges from $93,766.00 - $145,337.00. This position's final salary can be impacted by various factors including, but not limited to, contractual requirements, geographic location, job-related education, training, experience, and skills.
