Description of Work
This position supervises the day-to-day operations of the Recycling and Materials Management Section (RMMS) to ensure that it is meeting the goals and objectives in the Department, the Division, and the Section's strategic plans. The position leads staff in the development of Section goals and work projects and coordinates employee and program activity. This position oversees the RMMS team that provides technical and financial assistance, conducts research, and pursues other activities to increase sustainable materials management and recycling infrastructure in North Carolina. The Section is responsible for developing and implementing projects, programs, and outreach efforts to address these challenges, including the creation of written technical assistance materials, workshops, and other services such as one-on-one on-site technical assistance to clients.Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
Recruitment Range: $67,122.00 - $93,550.00

This position currently qualifies for a hybrid telework option with routine office and remote workdays. The NC Department of Environmental Quality trusts our employees to be self-motivated and successful in hybrid/remote roles. Telework options are subject to change at the discretion of management.

Bachelor's degree in one of the agricultural, biological, engineering, environmental or natural resource sciences or a closely related curriculum from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of progressive experience in environmental work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.EEO Statement
