Roles & Responsibilities

  • Undergraduate studies in sales, marketing, communications, public relations or related field; participation in technical insurance programs (e.g., CPCU, CLU) preferred.

Requirements:

  • Leads incoming sales support requests from sales/territory managers, regional leadership, and agencies; serves as a single point of contact for resolving sales support questions and issues and completes sales system tasks on behalf of the team.
  • Partners with sales/business development managers to support processes and programs; may perform back-office functions for open territories as needed.
  • Implements and administers distribution strategies and power form completion (e.g., new agency appointments, tracking code requests, unified agency code changes, consolidation of codes, name and ownership changes, contract changes, Elite requests); may assist in national programs for planned premium growth, profitability, retention and new business.
  • Conducts root cause analysis for agent issues and helps to resolve or direct to appropriate resources (e.g., contract/licensing, agency compensation, servicing issues, underwriting/claims concerns); tracks, resolves and responds to customer complaints (including Department of Insurance complaints); may assist with onboarding and special projects (e.g., SalesForce data entry, producer record clean-up) and coordinates regional events as needed.

This Sr Analyst, Sales Support will join our Personal Lines (PL) Sales & Distribution team, acting as a key resource to our PL Field and National Sales teams.

This opening can be filled in a remote/work-from-home (WFH) capacity from anywhere in the country, though regular work hours must align to the Eastern time zone.

Qulified candidates will possess:

  • Strong time management and prioritization skills
  • Relationship-building orientation to partner with territory sales leaders and agency partners
  • High level of comfort in conversing with internal and external partners at varying levels of leadership

Strong preference for an existing proficiency with Salesforce and business acumen in P&C insurance.

This role does not qualify for employer-sponsored work authorization.  Nationwide does not participate in the Stem OPT Extension program.

Job Description Summary

As a Sr Analyst, you’ll be a critical resource for the Field and National Sales teams and/or the Business Development teams, providing the essential tools, processes and sales support to grow and retain profitable business. You’ll lead key sales operations projects and manage various communications, cultivating strong relationships across the sales organization and/or business development organization. You will also serve as a subject matter authority and primary point of contact for the sales and/or business development teams and agents as they seek information, support, and/or resolution on various processes, systems or tools.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leads incoming sales support requests from sales/territory managers, regional leadership, and agencies, serving as a single point of contact for resolving sales support questions and issues, addressing process-related concerns, and completing sales system tasks on behalf of the sales/business development team.

  • Partners with sales/business development managers in supporting process and programs. May perform back-office functions for open territories (i.e. temporarily provide support for a territory in the absence of a sales manager, provide back-up for sales leaders when out of the office, etc.).

  • Implements and administers distribution strategies and power form completion; for example: new agency appointments, tracking code requests, unified agency combo changes, consolidation of codes, name and ownership changes, contract changes, Elite requests, etc. May assist in administering and monitoring national programs associated with planned premium growth, profitability, retention and new business.

  • Conducts root cause analysis for agent issues and helps to resolve or direct to appropriate resources (e.g. contract/licensing, agency compensation, servicing issues, underwriting/claims concerns, etc.)

  • May be responsible for tracking, resolving and responding to customer complaints, including Department of Insurance complaints.

  • May assist with new producer onboarding within existing agencies.

  • Provides assistance with sales/business development administrative special projects (i.e. agency callouts, SalesForce data entry, producer record clean-up, Community Service Award nominations, etc.)

  • Facilitates handling of prospective agent leads received via nationwide.com inquiries.

  • May coordinate regional events such as agency meetings, Sales/Territory Manager meetings, Big I events, trade shows, communication meetings, and agency reviews. Coordination would include venue selection, contract negotiation, on-site meeting accommodations, leading all aspects of attendee registration and administering payments. 

  • Coordinates requests on agent and associate sales compensation exceptions and is responsible for the process to ensure timely resolution of compensation inaccuracies.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to a Sales Support Director. Individual contributor role.


Typical Skills and Experiences:

Education: Undergraduate studies in sales, marketing, communications, public relations or related field. Participation in technical insurance programs preferred (i.e., CPCU, CLU, etc.).

Experience: Three or more years of related experience providing sales support and support for sales projects to sales managers and/or agents and working with meeting and conference planning.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Broad knowledge of Nationwide products and processes, technology and administration, sales processes, new agent and existing agent programs, event coordination, contract mediation, Property and Casualty insurance and terminology, and exclusive agency office operations. Proven knowledge of methodology used to develop, prioritize, promote and coordinate conferences, conventions, and contests. Demonstrated decision making skills. Ability to manage time effectively and handle multiple responsibilities as demonstrated by the use of strong organization skills. Command of all skills vital for verbal and written communication with a wide variety of audiences including internal and external leaders, sales professionals and vendors. Ability to effectively convey detailed information and processes. Technically proficient with Microsoft products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), e-mail system and computer systems navigation. Demonstrated competencies in collaboration, relationship development, communication, and initiative.

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
