Requirements:

  • Develops and implements strategies to scale operations for growth markets, collaborates cross-functionally for process improvement, and leads the talent pipeline to create effective leadership succession at all levels.
  • Works with the Head of Toxicology on strategic planning and management of the laboratory network to ensure operational excellence in the delivery of testing services.
  • Oversees all site support activities to ensure consistency across functional areas and ensures adequate resources (personnel and equipment) to meet quality standards, client deadlines, and production timelines.
  • Leads site operating and capital budget development, ensures delivery of testing services, and fosters proactive performance management and continuous improvement while ensuring high client satisfaction through timely communications.

Job description

Labcorp is seeking a Senior Director, Clinical Lab Operations to join its team. This position will be responsible for overseeing the clinical lab operations for 4 sites within our Toxicology business.  The successful candidate will have a proven track record in inspiring teams, innovating operations, delivering results and developing people.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm

This position has the option of being physically located onsite at our lab in Research Triangle Park (RTP), NC or work remotely in the US.  

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develops and implements strategies to scale operations for growth markets,  collaborate cross-functionally for process improvement, and lead the talent pipeline to create effective leadership succession at all levels of leadership
  • Works directly with the Head of Toxicology, in the strategic planning and management of the laboratory network to ensure operational excellence in the delivery of testing services
  • Has overall oversight and management of all support activities at the laboratory site to ensure consistency of management administration across all functional areas
  • Ensures that there are adequate resources, including personnel and equipment, necessary to meet quality standards, client deadlines and productions timelines
  • Leads the development of the site operating budget and supports and plans the capital budget development to ensure delivery of testing services
  • Ensures client satisfaction with timely communications and by building cooperative relationships between the laboratory and other functional areas
  • Foster the culture of proactive performance management and continuous improvement

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 8 years or more experience with growing leadership responsibility in a clinical laboratory environment; experience in a laboratory performing highly complex testing as defined by the most recent CLIA rules
  • 5 years or more experience in leadership, including managing a team, workflow optimization, capacity planning, performance metrics, and cross-function execution   

Additional Job Standards:

  • Proven track record in leading complex scientific and laboratory teams, including direct people management and laboratory management
  • Ability to closely partner with customers and clients (internal or external)
  • Strong business acumen and ability to translate technology to potential business impact
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, networking skills, a high level of organizational ability, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively within the matrix organization through influencing and building relationships across organization
  • Ability to travel approximately 20%

**Salary Range: $145,000-$215,000 / year

All job offers will be based on a candidate’s skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data.  

The position is also eligible for an annual bonus under the Labcorp Bonus Plan. Bonuses are payable based on corporate and/or business segment performance and are subject to individual performance modifiers. Compensation may also include discretionary short- and long-term incentive packages.

Benefits: Employees regularly scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week are eligible for comprehensive benefits including: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, STD/LTD, 401(k), Paid Time Off (PTO) or Flexible Time Off (FTO), Tuition Reimbursement and Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Employees regularly scheduled to work less than 20 hours, Casual, Intern, and Temporary employees are only eligible to participate in the 401(k) Plan. Employees who are regularly scheduled to work a 7 on/7 off schedule are eligible to receive all the foregoing benefits except PTO or FTO.
