Requirements:

  • Collaborate with the Chief Development Officer to draft a Philanthropic Partnerships Growth plan identifying targeted growth opportunities and steps to achieve them
  • Work with the Development team, Program Directors, and staff to leverage expertise and insights for growing philanthropic partnerships
  • Implement the Growth plan through strategic outreach, meetings, and proposals/grants to secure new partnerships and funding, while stewarding existing partnerships for sustainability

Job description

Inspiritus is seeking a Director of Philanthropy to join our development team. You will support Inspiritus program growth by securing new funding through strategic community partnerships with philanthropic foundations, corporations, government grants, and individual donors. Your achievements will work to restore local families whose lives have been disrupted by natural disasters, empower refugees to build successful lives in America, reunite families separated at the border, ensure adults with disabilities have the home and care they deserve, provide the most vulnerable of foster children with a safe space, and help many others on their unique paths from surviving to thriving!

An ideal candidate can work remotely 90%+ of the time and travel up to 10% to meet with potential funders. Most funders will be based in Atlanta or Birmingham, with some in Nashville and Savannah. 

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience procuring new revenue related to at least one of the following categories: (1) Foundation or Government Funding, (2) Disaster Relief, (3) Poverty/Economic Empowerment, (4) Refugee and Immigrant Services, etc.

Position Details:

  • Located in (Remote; Ideally Atlanta, Birmingham or Nashville regions)
  • Mostly Virtual/Remote (90%) with some on-site required, Travel (10%)
  • Flex Hours, Usually Monday through Friday 9:00AM – 5:00PM
  • Annual Compensation $125,000 (plus 5% bonus every 6 months for KPI achievements)

Responsibilities:

  • Become an expert advocate, capable of educating philanthropic community partners regarding Inspiritus, our mission and vision, the populations we serve, how we do our work, what we have achieved, and how they can partner with us in this work. Philanthropic partners might include the following focus ratios: Philanthropic Foundations, Corporations & Faith Groups (80%), Local and Federal Government agencies (15%), High potential individual donors (5%), etc.
  • Work with the CDO to draft a Philanthropic Partnerships Growth plan that will identify targeted growth opportunities and map out the steps to take to achieve that growth
  • Collaborate with Development team, Program Directors and other staff to leverage their expertise and insights in the growth of Philanthropic Partnerships
  • Collaborate with the Development staff to create highly impactful communications resources and grant proposals that help us secure new Partners
  • Implement the Philanthropic Partnerships Growth plan through strategic outreach, meetings, presentations, partnership proposals/grants, etc. in order to help programs with high funding potential to access those partnerships and funds
  • Steward Philanthropic Partnerships to ensure partnerships are successful and sustained  
  • Identify and research new funding sources, independently and collaboratively with internal staff (Program Directors create an annual list of strategic target partners, to help with this process.)
  • Work collaboratively with development, finance, and program staff as appropriate to maintain accurate, timely, well-informed communications and reporting
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date development record keeping in departmental systems
  • Organize partnership engagement meetings and activities, including drafting agendas, preparing internal and external participants, providing needed resources, and managing the engagement overall
  • Prepare case statements, flip books, presentation decks, one-pagers, web pages and other collateral, as needed
  • Support implementation of development activities or other special events, as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor
