Role Overview

We are looking for a Principal Consultant to join our Analytics team. In this role, you will lead the strategy, architecture, and delivery of enterprise Power BI solutions that help clients gain tangible value from their data through analytics enablement, data visualization, and data preparation. You will collaborate closely with business stakeholders, data engineering teams, and practice leadership to shape roadmaps, standardize best practices, and scale modern BI capabilities across organizations.

Key Responsibilities

Client Delivery

  • Own and drive the design and delivery of advanced Power BI reporting, data models, and analytics solutions for enterprise clients.
  • Translate business requirements into robust, scalable technical solutions and interactive prototypes that align with phData methodologies, standards, and best practices.
  • Deliver project-based consulting engagements, including backlog support and development, ensuring work is completed on time, within scope, and with measurable business value.
  • Create reporting and data visualization solutions that clearly communicate insights to business users and support data-driven decision-making.
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and tune performance or deployment issues across Power BI reports, data models, and underlying platforms.
  • Recommend best practices to optimize data models, DAX calculations, queries, and overall platform architecture, particularly in modern cloud data environments (e.g., Snowflake).

Collaboration & Leadership

  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners including data engineering, analytics, and client business stakeholders to deliver successful client engagements.
  • Manage client expectations by leading regular status meetings, providing clear updates, and proactively soliciting feedback through working sessions and demos.
  • Provide technical and strategic leadership in Power BI, DAX, Power Query, and Power BI Service administration, including security roles and infrastructure setup.
  • Ensure high quality in deliverables through documentation, validation, testing, and adherence to governance, security, and change management standards.
  • Partner with practice and account leaders to identify opportunities to expand analytics use cases, improve delivery patterns, and standardize reusable approaches.

Practice & Firm Contribution

  • Contribute to internal initiatives such as developing Power BI accelerators, templates, governance frameworks, and best-practice playbooks.
  • Support internal enablement through training, mentoring, and coaching on Power BI, data modeling, and enterprise BI standards.
  • Represent phData with professionalism in all interactions, communicating clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior client stakeholders, shaping Power BI and analytics roadmaps, influencing strategic decisions, and guiding long-term initiatives.
  • Lead teams of consultants to ensure high performance, utilization, and successful project delivery across one or more engagements.
  • Drive enterprise-scale adoption of Power BI, including standards, governance, security models, and self-service enablement.
  • Help define and refine practice standards, reusable assets, and delivery frameworks for modern BI and analytics.

About You

You are a client-focused, senior data and analytics consultant who excels at leading complex Power BI initiatives from strategy through implementation. You are comfortable partnering with senior stakeholders, guiding teams, and turning ambiguous business needs into scalable, governed analytics solutions. You thrive in a fast-paced, outcomes-driven environment and enjoy collaborating with distributed, global teams.
