Roles & Responsibilities

  • 8+ years of hands-on experience in modern technology, with at least 3 years in managing distributed engineering teams, ideally in a high-growth company
  • Experience with Go on the backend and JavaScript/Next.js on the frontend, all running on Google Cloud Platform (GCP); proficiency in these languages is a plus
  • Proven experience in building eCommerce, marketplaces or B2C platform products
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to attract, motivate, hire top talent and fluency in English

Your profile

The role of Head of Engineering plays a key role in the development and growth of our company. You will be expected to actively contribute to the overall strategy of the company, in particular by setting the technical direction and scaling strategies for further growth on both the business and technology side. You would also be the day-to-day sparring partner of the CEO/founder and be responsible for the development of an Engineering strategy matching the business goals. Your role would have a strong focus on optimising product and software development processes. You will be responsible to lead and further grow the engineering team with and help them to effectively execute on the product timeline. The head of engineering is set to become the CTO of the company.

This role is fundamental to the success of the business and as such the new candidate will be able to make a significant and tangible impact on the business.

Responsibility
  • Envision, lead and drive the leading marketplace in the industry while building a great product that customer love
  • Partner with CEO and Lead of Product Management to define, prioritize and realize our product roadmap
  • Translate the product roadmap into a highly scalable and cost-efficient architecture leveraging modern technologies
  • Diving into coding and getting your hands dirty!
  • Manifest a product and customer driven culture in the company
  • Lead and enable a strong engineering team of backend and frontend developers to execute on the product roadmap through setting objectives, coaching, empowering, hiring and retaining talent

Requirements
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience in modern technology with 3+ years in management of distributed engineering teams ideally in a high-growth company
  • Our tech stack is: GO on the backend, JS/Next.js on the frontend - all running on GCP. Proficiency in these languages is a huge plus.
  • You have worked on eCommerce, marketplaces or B2C Platform products before
  • Proficiency in understanding the requirements of building a product from scratch with a never-ending drive to build the better product
  • Ideally proven record of building marketplace and/or e-commerce products
  • Strong leadership expertise with the ability to attract, motivate, and hire a top level product team
  • Excellent communication skills in English
