Role Summary:

The Service Engineering & Automation team is responsible for the implementation, management and maintenance of hybrid and private cloud solutions for its enterprise customer base. The team is consisting of highly experienced professionals with years of experience in operating and maintaining all building blocks of sophisticated cloud designs. Virtualization, Storage, Backup and OS management mixed with DevOps mentality and practices are what sets this team apart and what makes it a welcoming environment for skilled IT enthusiasts looking for a new challenge.

The senior engineer in Service Engineering & Automation team is a subject matter expert for all cloud services and has in-depth understanding of all components that form a cloud solution and is proficient in everything it takes for a customer to see the desired outcome on his system. That includes the whole lifecycle - from installation and initial configuration based on pre-approved design to capacity allocation and configuration of systems.

Job Scope/Supervision:

Technical point of contact for Service Delivery, Sales Engineering, Project Management and In-Country Datacentre teams for issues related to Hosting service design, implementation, test and delivery of customer solutions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identify manual, high-toil operational tasks eligible for automation and lead the end-to-end design, implementation, and lifecycle management of those automated solutions.
  • Lead initiatives to replace manual deployment processes with zero-touch, automated workflows, driving significant optimization in delivery times and reducing human error.
  • Provide advanced engineering support and root cause analysis for issues related to automation platforms and infrastructure state consistency.
  • Deployment, maintenance and management of hybrid cloud solutions or dedicated on-prem solutions in any of the 50+ GTT PoPs around the globe
  • Provide advanced engineering support and complex troubleshooting for Customer solutions and Shared GTT platforms.
  • Work in cooperation with other engineering teams deploying and developing new customer and GTT platforms.
  • Proactive escalation, follow-through and liaison with appropriate departments to resolve technical issues which may impact delivery timescales or quality. Creation of contingency plans to minimize such risks.
  • Production of quality documentation to reflect changes to solutions.
  • Provide technical governance and ensure adherence to best practices in operations.
  • Present proposed solutions, technical designs, and service enhancements to internal teams and management.
  • Lead root cause analysis efforts for major incidents and automation faliures, identifying systemic issues and implementing preventative actions.
  • Collaborate with the Problem Management team to ensure known errors are well-documented and corrective actions are tracked.
  • Mentor and actively develop senior engineering talent
  • Establish and govern the standards for technical documentation
  • Present and defend strategic technical proposals, architectural changes, and service enhancement initiatives

Required Experience/Qualifications:

  • At least 6 years of proven experience deploying, configuring and managing virtual and/or cloud infrastructures
  • Expert-level fluency in infrastructure automation scripting and programming.
  • Hands-on expertise with configuration management tools (Ansible, SaltStack, Puppet or Chef)
  • Hands-on experience with version control systems, branching strategies and CI/CD pipeline architecture.
  • Expert-level understanding of Linux operating systems and system administration.
  • Previous experience with cloud management tools like CloudStack, Open Stack or similar.
  • Excellent awareness of Hosting Solution components (Firewalls, Server Hardware etc.)
  • Technical understanding of other technologies (eg. IP, MPLS, VoIP)
  • Excellent knowledge of large complex Hosting solutions.
  • Experienced with ITIL framework.
  • General knowledge of telecom and Hosting industry and standards.
  • Excellent English language skills a must.

Desirable Experience/Qualifications:

  • Relevant infrastructure automation certifications.
  • Active portfolio demonstrating advanced automation expertise.
  • Advanced public cloud certifications, such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional (SAP-C02), Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305), or Google Cloud Certified - Professional Cloud Architect (PCA) is a plus.
  • RedHat, NetApp, Microsoft or other related certifications.
  • Excellent awareness of Linux technologies and integration.

Hours/Travel/Shift:

Standard business hours, rotational on-call shifts to ensure 24/7 support coverage. This role does not require travel.
