Job Title: GO virtual tutor

Job Type: Part-Time/Contract

Location: Remote, must be located in the US

Snapshot: This is a part-time, virtual tutoring role for candidates based in select East Coast states who can commit to consistent weekday hours. You’ll work with small groups (1–4 students) primarily in math, so it’s a strong fit if you enjoy engaging students online, have solid subject knowledge, and can stick to a fixed weekly schedule. Strong communication and reliability are essential—tutors are expected to proactively communicate schedule changes and consistently follow provided lesson plans to support student progress. Ideal for college students or those with some teaching/tutoring experience looking for steady, short daily shifts during the school semester.

Job Summary

We are looking for dedicated and knowledgeable tutors to provide online academic support to students. The ideal candidate will be passionate about education, skilled in engaging students through virtual platforms, and capable of adapting to different learning styles. Tutors deliver virtual small-group instruction (typically 1-4 students per session) in a supportive virtual environment, leading to a significant increase primarily in math achievement. English Language Arts (ELA) tutoring opportunities may be offered based on the needs and decisions of our partner schools.

We are looking for tutors with a consistent schedule who are available at least 5 hours per week, Monday through Thursday between 8 am-3 pm ET. Schedules will be determined during training and remain consistent throughout the semester. 

Fall 2026: 

  • Training (asynchronous & synchronous): approx. 20 hours in August
  • Tutoring: September through December, various blocks between 8 am - 3 pm EST

Spring 2027: 

  • Training (asynchronous & synchronous): approx. 20 hours in January
  • Tutoring: February through May, various blocks between 8 am - 3 pm EST

Compensation

  • Training: $18/hr payment to be received in a lump sum after the completion of training
  • Tutoring:
    • $18 an hour for new tutors / $20 an hour for experienced tutors
    • $22 per hour for returning GO virtual tutors
    • Payment to be invoiced every 2 weeks, with a 1-week turnaround in payment.
  • A perfect attendance bonus of $200 for tutors who attend all training sessions and tutoring sessions.
  • Fingerprint-based background check required (initial cost of $80–$180 per state paid by the candidate and fully reimbursed in the first paycheck after onboarding, training, and scheduling are complete). We are not able to accept mail in fingerprints and recommend searching for an IdentoGO location near you to confirm that you are able to get fingerprinted in-person. 

Key Responsibilities

Educational Requirements

  • A computer with camera and reliable internet access
  • Quiet space with no distractions or background noise
  • Headphones with microphone capability 

Experience and Skills

  • Strong commitment to our students
  • Prior experience in tutoring, teaching, or mentoring is a plus
  • Strong subject knowledge in Math and/or English Language Arts (ELA)
  • Proficient in using virtual learning platforms, online collaboration tools, and digital teaching methods
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to engage students in an online environment
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Laptop or desktop computer, reliable internet connection and a quiet work environment

  • Letter of Intent (signifying that you are eligible for hire)
  • Offer (contingent on training and onboarding)

Successful candidates are required to complete a fingerprint-based background check. The initial cost, which typically ranges from $80–$180, is paid out of pocket by the candidate. Once the candidate has successfully completed onboarding and training and is officially scheduled to begin tutoring, the cost of the background check will be reimbursed in the candidate’s first paycheck.
