Description
The Executive Director, Experimental Medicine – Immunology will provide leadership for early clinical development and experimental medicine within the Therapeutic Area (TA). This role focuses on advancing proof-of-concept studies and supporting global development plans. The incumbent will contribute to shaping clinical strategy and ensuring scientific rigor in early-phase programs. This role will drive operational excellence and foster collaboration across functions to deliver high-quality clinical outcomes aligned with TA objectives.
The Executive Director, Experimental Medicine influences portfolio progression and scientific reputation but with a narrower enterprise impact compared to VP level.

Duties & Responsibilities
Clinical & Scientific Leadership:
- Contributes to development and execution of early clinical plans for the TA.
- Ensures timely delivery of Phase I–IIb studies with scientific integrity and regulatory compliance.
- Maintains awareness of emerging science and competitor activities; applies insights to optimize study design and execution.
- Reviews and provides input on protocols, reports, and publications.
Team Leadership:
- Provides guideance to a team of clinical scientists and physicians, fostering collaboration and high performance.
- Promotes innovation and operational excellence within early development teams.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Partners with Research, Clinical Pharmacology, Regulatory, and Clinical Operations to ensure alignment and smooth execution.
- Participates in governance discussions and provides recommendations to support decision-making.
External Engagement:
- Represents the organization in scientific forums and with key opinion leaders as appropriate.
- Supports preliminary evaluations for potential in-licensing opportunities
Requirements
- MD or MD/PhD in relevant medical specialty/Therapeutic Area required
- Cell therapy experience
- Scientific Expertise: Solid understanding of disease biology, clinical trial design, and translational medicine.
- Leadership: Ability to lead and develop multidisciplinary teams.
- Strategic Execution: Skilled in implementing clinical plans aligned with TA objectives.
- Communication: Strong ability to engage internal and external stakeholders.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with global drug development and compliance requirements.
- Innovation: Experience applying novel approaches in early clinical development.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
- Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required).
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
Compensation Data
Compensation:  The base salary range for this position is $280,000 to $441,000. The position may be eligible for a role specific discretionary bonus, relocation, and/or other compensation elements. We continuously review market data and may adjust salary ranges as needed in the future.
