Requirements:

  • Own end-to-end sales of the full Malvern Panalytical portfolio in Switzerland, including prospecting, qualification, value selling, quotation, negotiation, and closing; achieve revenue, order intake, and margin targets; maintain accurate opportunity management, forecasting, and CRM; deliver professional presentations, demonstrations, and proposals.
  • Account management and customer engagement: develop and maintain strong relationships with key accounts, strategic customers, and channel partners; understand customer workflows and application needs; identify cross-selling opportunities and ensure high customer satisfaction with Service, Applications, and Support teams.
  • Proactively generate new opportunities across the full portfolio; support sector-focused growth initiatives (Pharma, Chemicals, Materials, Food, Academia); identify market trends, competitive developments, and represent Malvern Panalytical at trade shows and events.
  • Collaborate closely with Inside Sales, Marketing, Business Development, Service, and Applications; cooperate with channel partners and distributors to maximize market coverage; contribute to regional forecasting and business reviews.

Sales Engineer Switzerland (m/f/d)

Malvern Panalytical is the world's leading provider of laboratory and process measurement technology. Our devices are used in quality control, process control and R&D for structural, element and physical analysis. The areas of application range from building materials and metals to pharmaceutical and biotechnological products and nanomaterials. Our clients in the field of R&D are mainly customers in the academic environment (chemistry, biology, geology, mineralogy, crystallography, physics, materials science, materials development) and the high-tech industry (pharmacy, life science, steel, cement, petrochemicals, semiconductors, solar).

Position Summary 

The Sales Engineer Switzerland is commercially responsible for the full Malvern Panalytical portfolio within an allocated territory in Switzerland. Each engineer has full responsibility for their respective territory, owning end-to-end sales responsibility across all product lines, customer segments, and applications. The role drives sustainable growth, strong customer relationships, and high-quality execution in line with Malvern Panalytical’s commercial strategy and requires close collaboration across the DACH and CEMEA organization. Success in this role requires strong technical and consultative selling capability, with the ability to translate complex, research-driven customer requirements into clear value propositions and to guide multiple stakeholders through explanation-heavy decision processes typical of scientific and regulated industries.

Key Responsibilities 

1. Full Portfolio Sales Ownership (≈ 60%) 

  • Full commercial responsibility for selling all Malvern Panalytical products and solutions in Switzerland. 
  • Own the complete sales cycle: prospecting, qualification, value selling, quotation, negotiation, and closing. 
  • Achieve assigned revenue, order intake, margin, and growth targets. 
  • Maintain accurate opportunity management, forecasting, and CRM discipline. 
  • Deliver professional customer presentations, demonstrations, and commercial proposals. 

2. Account Management & Customer Engagement (≈ 20%) 

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key accounts, strategic customers, and channel partners. 
  • Understand customer workflows, decision drivers, and application needs across industries. 
  • Identify cross selling opportunities across the installed base and new accounts. 
  • Ensure high customer satisfaction through close cooperation with Service, Applications, and Support teams. 

3. Business Development & Market Growth (≈ 20%) 

  • Proactively generate new opportunities across the full Malvern Panalytical portfolio. 
  • Support sector-focused growth initiatives (e.g. Pharma, Chemicals, Materials, Food, and Academia). 
  • Identify and analyze market trends, competitive developments, and customer needs. 
  • Represent Malvern Panalytical at trade shows, customer events, seminars, and regional meetings. 

4. Cross-Functional Collaboration 

  • Work closely with Inside Sales, Marketing, Business Development, Service, and Applications teams. 
  • Cooperate with channel partners and distributors to maximize market coverage and opportunity generation. 
  • Contribute input to regional forecasting, planning cycles, and business reviews. 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Materials Science, or a related field. 
  • Proven experience in B2B technical or capital equipment sales. 
  • Track record of successfully managing complex sales cycles and key accounts. 
  • Strong understanding of the Swiss market and customer expectations. 
  • Experience working with CRM systems and structured sales methodologies. 
  • Fluent in German and English; French is an advantage.
