Roles & Responsibilities

  • 3-5 years of claims handling experience in property and casualty insurance, with experience across property and/or general liability
  • Working knowledge of property damage valuation, coverage analysis, and claims investigation techniques; familiarity with tort liability principles
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; proficient in Microsoft Office and claims management systems; strong analytical and organizational skills

  • Conducts or coordinates field inspections, property assessments, and damage estimates for property claims as required; handles recorded statements and medical records when applicable
  • Analyzes coverage across property and liability policies, prepares coverage position letters, and issues reservation of rights correspondence as appropriate; establishes and maintains reserves
  • Develops and executes resolution strategies with clear file notes reflecting focus, control, and momentum; manages vendors (independent adjusters, contractors, engineers, defense counsel) and maintains timely diary management; provides customer service and prepares status reports

JOB SUMMARY:

The Claims Adjuster, Property & General Liability is responsible for investigating, evaluating, and resolving both property damage and general liability claims on behalf of OneSource Claims Management, a Venbrook Claims brand. This role is designed for a professional with 3–5 years of multi-line claims experience who is coachable, collaborative, and motivated to develop within a growing claims organization.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Investigates, evaluates, and resolves property damage and general liability claims in accordance with Claim Handling Guidelines, Best Practices, and client-specific requirements.
  • Conducts or coordinates field inspections, property assessments, and damage estimates for property claims as required.
  • Conducts recorded statements, reviews medical records, and analyzes liability and damages across a variety of general liability claim types.
  • Analyzes coverage across property and liability policies, prepares coverage position letters, and issues reservation of rights correspondence as appropriate.
  • Establishes and maintains accurate reserves throughout the claims lifecycle in accordance with applicable guidelines.
  • Develops and executes resolution strategies with clear file notes reflecting focus, control, and momentum.
  • Identifies and manages vendors, including independent adjusters, contractors, engineers, and defense counsel, to achieve quality outcomes on both expense and indemnity.
  • Maintains timely diary management and accurate documentation of all claim activity and decision-making.
  • Provides excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders, including policyholders, insureds, agents, and carriers.
  • Prepares claim status reports and presents file summaries in client review settings as required.
  • Consistently achieves file quality audit scores in accordance with established performance benchmarks.
  • Participates in team meetings, training sessions, and process improvement initiatives to support a growing and evolving claims operation.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • 3–5 years of claims handling experience in the property and casualty insurance industry, with experience across property and/or general liability lines
  • Working knowledge of property damage valuation, coverage analysis, and claims investigation techniques
  • Familiarity with tort liability principles and general liability claims handling methodology
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a multi-line caseload with competing priorities and deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and claims management systems
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with close attention to detail
  • Receptive to coaching and committed to professional growth in a collaborative team environment
  • Ability to function effectively in a high-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Some travel may be required for field assignments, mediations, or client meetings

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Risk Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered
  • Insurance designation (e.g., AIC, AIM, CPCU) or active pursuit of designation preferred
  • Active adjuster license required; specific state licensing requirements will vary based on clients assigned
