The Role:

We are seeking a Looker Data Engineer for a project-based assignment to support a key client initiative. This role will focus on building and optimizing data models, developing scalable reporting solutions, and enabling data-driven decision-making through Looker and modern data stack technologies. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Looker development, data modeling, and programmatic reporting, along with a solid foundation in SQL and cloud data platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain Looker data models, including LookML, models, and explores
Build and optimize scalable, consumable data models to support business intelligence and strategic decision-making
Utilize Looker API 4.0 to enable programmatic access to dashboards, looks, and explores
Automate report generation and delivery using Looker API endpoints
Write and optimize complex SQL queries to improve performance and efficiency
Work with Snowflake, dbt, and Python to support data transformation and pipeline development
Collaborate with stakeholders to translate data requirements into scalable BI solutions
Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and performance across reporting layers

Required Skills:

3+ years Looker development experience (LookML, models, explores)
Experience working with Looker API 4.0 for programmatic access
Experience automating reporting using Looker API endpoints
Ability to transform complex data into scalable, consumable data models
Hands-on experience with Snowflake, dbt, and Python
SQL experience with query optimization

Nice to Have:

Looker administration experience
Experience working with BigQuery
Experience with modern data pipelines and ELT workflows
Familiarity with data governance, data quality, or BI best practices
Experience working in a client-facing or consulting environment
