About the Team & Your Impact

BetterUp is pioneering human transformation at scale—and design plays a central role in that mission. We’re evolving from a suite of products to an intelligent, adaptive platform that powers transformative experiences for individuals and organizations worldwide.

As a Staff Product Designer, you’ll shape the next generation of BetterUp’s platform and design language. You’ll set the vision for how our ecosystem of products, tools, and experiences come together seamlessly, balancing deep user empathy with system-level thinking.

You’ll work closely with product, research, engineering, and cross-functional design leaders to define the north star for our experience architecture, mentor senior designers, and ensure our design system continues to evolve with elegance and

rigor.

You’ll also have the opportunity to lead and develop a small team of designers while influencing design quality and strategy across the broader organization.

What You'll Do

  • Drive the design vision and strategy for cross-product experiences that serve diverse users and customers at scale.

  • Lead end-to-end design for complex systems and user journeys that span multiple product surfaces.

  • Partner with senior product, research, and engineering leaders to shape product direction and long-term roadmaps.

  • Translate abstract problems into clear frameworks and design principles that guide teams toward cohesive outcomes.

  • Advance our design system to enable flexibility, consistency, and innovation across BetterUp’s ecosystem.

  • Mentor and elevate designers through feedback, critique, and hands-on guidance—building a culture of excellence and continuous learning.

  • Model thoughtful leadership by balancing business goals, user impact, and design craft.

What You'll Bring

  • 7+ years of product design experience with deep expertise in system-level design, platform thinking, and multi-surface experiences.

  • Proven success leading design strategy and execution for high-impact, high-complexity initiatives.

  • A portfolio showcasing visionary work that balances clarity, craft, and strategic insight.

  • Demonstrated ability to influence product direction at a senior leadership level.

  • Experience mentoring and leading other designers, fostering both autonomy and alignment.

  • Mastery in information architecture, interaction design, and visual systems thinking.

  • Exceptional communication skills and a track record of uniting stakeholders around a shared vision.

You'll Thrive Here If You

  • See design as a system of relationships—between people, products, and purpose.

  • Love simplifying complexity through structure, empathy, and storytelling.

  • Bring both strategic depth and hands-on excellence to every problem.

  • Navigate ambiguity with curiosity, clarity, and conviction.

  • Care deeply about human growth and helping people live with more clarity, purpose, and passion.

These professionals thoughtfully integrate AI into their work to deliver exceptional results while maintaining the human judgment and creativity that drives real innovation. During our interview process, you’ll have opportunities to showcase how you harness AI to learn, iterate, and amplify your impact.

As a Staff Product Designer, you’ll:

  • Anticipate industry-shifting AI capabilities and position BetterUp to leverage them ahead of competitors in how we design and build product experiences.

  • Lead enterprise-wide AI transformation initiatives within the Design org that span multiple functions and product surfaces.

  • Drive technical vision for how AI will reshape product capabilities and development practices over 3–5 year horizons.
