Responsibilities

  • Represent Datacom to government and corporate customers in Canberra, promoting IT service offerings across managed services, cybersecurity, cloud and digital platforms and applications
  • Develop and close new business opportunities, managing long sales cycles and RFP responses in collaboration with pre-sales, line-of-business owners and solution architects
  • Qualify opportunities quickly, build and maintain strong relationships with customers, partners and vendors, and strive to exceed sales targets
  • Maintain current knowledge of vendors and offerings, and effectively communicate technical information to diverse audiences using Salesforce to track opportunity progression

About the Role (your why)

As the Senor Business Development Manager, you’ll represent Datacom to a broad range of customers, both Government and Corporate, promoting a range if IT service offerings and developing new business opportunities for Datacom.

Key to your success is your ability to be innovative and creative in ensuring targets are met or exceeded by selling Datacom service offerings across managed services, cybersecurity, cloud and digital platforms and applications.

Your strong knowledge of the Canberra unique market and your proven experience working with government agencies and corporate customers will ensure you’re a high achiever in this role. Your success will also be ensured by your proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with customers, partners and vendors.

This role is based in Canberra. We like to bring people together in person when we can, but we are mindful of the benefits of working from home for work/ life balance. We therefore leave it to you and the team you join to figure out what works best!

Please note that to be successful in this role, you must be an Australian Citizen and be able to achieve a Baseline or NV1 security clearance.

 

What you’ll bring

We are looking for an experienced Senior Business Development Manager with at least 8+ years’ sales experience working within the Canberra market. You will be a self-motivated, driven, and a results-orientated team player with a successful track record in sales.

Our ideal candidate will have the following skills and experiences:

  • Solid understanding of the Canberra IT market with a substantial network at the C-level within government and corporate customers
  • Understanding of the managed services, cybersecurity, cloud and digital platforms and applications market with the technical nous to pick up new offerings and services
  • Proven ability to manage long sales cycles including RFP responses, working with Datacom’s pre-sales team, line-of-business owners and solution architects
  • Proven ability to qualify opportunities quickly
  • Maintaining currency of knowledge, training and engagement with relevant vendors
  • Ability to absorb, apply and communicate technical information to a diverse audience
  • Excellent customer and vendor relationship building and management skills
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills
  • Supporting and enriching the existing strategic vendor relationships to ensure Datacom is top of mind for opportunities
  • Excellent written and oral skills
  • Experience in using Salesforce as the sales CRM for tracking opportunity progression through the sales cycle.
