Job Overview:

We are seeking a Data Governance Analyst to support the development and execution of enterprise data governance initiatives. This role will partner with business and technical stakeholders to translate data governance strategy into practical processes, standards, and tools that improve data quality, accessibility, and compliance across the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Translate data governance strategy into actionable processes, standards, and controls aligned with organizational goals
  • Draft, document, and socialize data governance policies, standards, and procedures (e.g., data stewardship, data quality, metadata management, data access, and retention)
  • Support governance forums (councils, work groups, committees), including agenda development, facilitation, documentation, and tracking of decisions and action items
  • Develop and maintain business glossaries, data dictionaries, and metadata management frameworks
  • Define and support Master Data Management (MDM) and reference data processes
  • Partner with data stewards and business stakeholders to define roles, responsibilities, and RACI frameworks
  • Assist in the development of data quality rules, metrics, and monitoring processes
  • Create training materials and communications to promote data governance adoption and data literacy
  • Support data governance tool evaluation, implementation, or optimization efforts
  • Perform project coordination activities, including planning, status tracking, risk identification, and stakeholder communication
  • Contribute to data management strategy roadmaps and implementation plans

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in data governance, data management, data quality, or related roles
  • Experience developing data governance artifacts such as policies, standards, procedures, business glossaries, or data dictionaries
  • Familiarity with data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK or similar best practices)
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams, including business stakeholders, data owners, and IT teams
  • Understanding of data lifecycle concepts, including data creation, usage, storage, retention, and archival
  • Strong organizational and project coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and collaboration tools (e.g., Teams, SharePoint, Confluence, Jira)
  • Strong writing and documentation skills with exceptional attention to detail and ability to produce clear, concise deliverables with minimal rework

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with healthcare, Medicaid, or New York State (NYS) Medicaid programs
