As a Strategic Business Architect, you will support nonprofit clients in aligning business strategy with technology solutions, with a focus on applications, data, and SaaS platforms. You will independently lead workstreams within strategy engagements, conduct architecture and business assessments, and provide targeted recommendations that enable measurable outcomes.
You will work within Heller Consulting’s Strategy Practice, partnering with clients and internal teams to define requirements, evaluate solutions, and shape implementation-ready strategies.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead assessments of current-state applications, data structures, and business processes to identify gaps, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement
- Translate business objectives into structured requirements, capability models, and high-level solution approaches
- Drive projects to completion within reasonable budget and schedule constraints
- Develop exceptional artifacts and deliverables for our clients including process maps, capability maps, data flows, and solution diagrams
- Support platform and solution evaluations, including SaaS products and Salesforce-based ecosystems, with consideration for integrations and data strategy
- Contribute to the design of cross-platform architectures, ensuring alignment between applications, data, and integration approaches
- Identify opportunities to leverage automation and AI to improve business processes and operational efficiency
- Facilitate workshops, interviews, and working sessions to gather requirements and align stakeholders
- Collaborate with technical teams in all of our practices to ensure proposed solutions are feasible, scalable, and aligned with best practices
- Provide targeted advice to clients and project teams, helping guide decision-making within defined workstreams
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience consulting or a proven track record delivering client-facing professional services
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in business architecture, solution design, or related roles in nonprofit, higher education, or consulting positions
- Experience conducting business and/or technology assessments and translating findings into actionable recommendations
- Hands-on experience working with SaaS platforms, including Salesforce and related technologies
- Exposure to AI, automation, or analytics use cases within business or technology contexts
- Understanding of data structures, data flows, and integration concepts within modern application ecosystems
- Experience supporting or leading workstreams within consulting engagements or complex projects
- Ability to gather and document business requirements using structured methods such as workshops, interviews, and process analysis
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to evaluate solution options based on business value, effort, and constraints
- Effective communication skills with the ability to translate between business and technical audiences including senior leadership
- Ability to independently lead defined scopes of work and deliver high-quality outputs
PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience working with nonprofit organizations and understanding of mission-driven operations
- Familiarity with Salesforce ecosystem components such as NPSP, Nonprofit Cloud, Data Cloud, and integration tools
- Experience with process improvement, business process re-engineering, or capability modeling
- Relevant industry or platform certifications
LOCATION: Remote, U.S. Some company-funded travel may be required to attend client onsites, sales support activities, conferences, or to participate in annual staff activities or in-person team meetings.
WORKING HOURS: Our business operation requires employees to work in one of the four, continental U.S. time zones during regular, Mon-Fri business hours.
Pay Range expected for the position: $110k-$130k annually.
