Job description

 

Role Overview:

 

As a DevOps Support Engineer, you will be part of a collaborative DevOps team that supports the operation, monitoring, and maintenance of our software delivery and automation tools. This role is primarily focused on support, maintenance, and learning.

You will help keep Continuous Integration/ Continuous Deployment systems running smoothly, assist with troubleshooting build and deployment issues, and support internal teams and customers by following established procedures. This position is ideal for someone early in their DevOps or IT career who is eager to learn modern DevOps practices and tools in a hands-on environment.

This role is designed as a growth position. With experience and mentoring, you will have opportunities to take on increased responsibility, contribute to automation development, and advance into a full DevOps or DevSecOps engineering role.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Provide day to day support for DevOps tools and infrastructure, including Continuous Integration/ Continuous Deployment pipelines and build systems.
  • Monitor existing automation pipelines and report or escalate failures, performance issues, and system alerts.
  • Assist with maintaining Jenkins, build agents, and related automation services.
  • Help manage software build artifacts such as libraries, installers, Docker images, and packages in Artifactory or similar repositories.
  • Support basic Docker container operations (starting, stopping, troubleshooting containers).
  • Follow documented procedures to assist with deployments to development and test environments.
  • Perform basic system administration tasks on Windows and Linux systems under guidance from senior engineers.
  • Assist with troubleshooting build, deployment, and connectivity issues using logs and monitoring tools.
  • Work with internal development teams to resolve DevOps-related support requests.
  • Document common issues, support procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Participate in learning activities and training to build DevOps and automation skills over time.

 

 

Tools & Technologies You Will Support:

 

  • Continuous Integration/ Continuous Deployment. tools such as Jenkins, GitHub actions, GitLab Continuous Integration/ Continuous Deployment.
  • Version control systems (Git, GitHub, GitLab, or Bitbucket).
  • Artifact repositories (Artifactory or similar).
  • Docker and containerized applications.
  • Automation tools (basic exposure to Ansible or similar).
  • Cloud and virtualization platforms (Azure, VMware – support level only).
  • Monitoring, logging, or analytics tools (basic usage).

 


Required Skills & Qualifications:

 

  • Basic understanding of software development or IT operations concepts.
  • Familiarity with Git and source control fundamentals.
  • Basic experience with Linux and/or Windows operating systems.
  • Introductory scripting knowledge (Python, PowerShell, or shell scripting preferred).
  • Ability to read logs and follow troubleshooting steps.
  • Willingness to learn DevOps tools, automation, and Continuous Integration/ Continuous Deployment concepts.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions, prioritize tasks, and escalate issues appropriately.
  • Comfortable working in a team and asking questions.

 

 

Preferred (But Not Required):

 

  • Internship, coursework, or personal projects related to DevOps, automation, or cloud technologies.
  • Exposure to Jenkins pipelines or Continuous Integration/ Continuous Deployment workflows.
  • Basic Docker knowledge (running containers, viewing logs).
  • Familiarity with Jira or ticket-based support systems.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms or virtualization environments.

 


Education & Experience:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field OR equivalent practical experience.
  • Entry-level candidates welcome; 3-5 years of related experience preferred.
