Senior Product Solution Engineer

What You'll Do:

The Senior Product Solution Engineer (Sr. PSE) plays a critical role in winning complex deals throughout the sales cycle. You will be a trusted advisor to prospects, partners, and customers—translating challenges into scalable solutions powered by Avalara.

 

You will sit at the intersection of AI, tax expertise, and enterprise technology. You won't just explain solutions—you'll demonstrate how intelligent automation is reshaping global tax and compliance.

 

You will report to the Director, Product Solution Engineering. You can work remotely.

What Your Responsibilities Will Be:

Lead with AI—internally and externally

AI is core to how we operate and how we sell. PSEs use tools like ChatGPT, Glean, and n8n to refine workflows, accelerate discovery, and enhance solution design. Just as importantly, you'll bring Avalara's AI capabilities to life for customers—showing how agentic tax and compliance solutions promote efficiency, accuracy, and strategic advantage.

 

Technical wins in the sales cycle

You will be the technical authority across Avalara's platform, guiding prospects from discovery through solution validation. You'll architect and deliver compelling demonstrations, design proof-of-concepts, and explain value.

 

Translate complexity into clarity

From global tax determination to document management and compliance, you'll simplify scenarios into clear, business-relevant narratives that resonate with both technical and non-technical audiences.

 

Operate across a broad solution and technology landscape

Support a portfolio of 15+ Avalara solutions spanning global tax, compliance, and regulatory requirements. Engage with enterprise systems including ERP, CRM, eCommerce, and POS platforms—bringing value with ecosystems like NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Sage, Epicor, and Salesforce.

 

Shape the future of our products

Partner with Product and Content teams to ensure customer insights directly influence roadmap decisions.

 

Represent Avalara in the market

Be a specialist and promoter at webinars, conferences, and industry events.

What You'll Need to be Successful:

• 10+ years of experience in tax, technology, or solution engineering role
• Fluency in AI tools
• Expertise in tax scenarios and associated requirements
• Experience simplifying complex concepts for diverse audiences
• Hands-on experience configuring and demonstrating Avalara solutions (e.g., AvaTax, ECM, MRS), including building proof-of-concepts
• Experience with enterprise systems (ERP, CRM, eCommerce, POS) and how they are used in real-world operations
• Familiarity with MCPs and APIs
