Job description

Job Title: Azure DevOps (ADO) Practitioner / Technical Lead
Location: Seattle, WA (Remote / Local PST Hours)
Duration: 6–12 Months
Work Mode: Remote (PST Time Zone)

Role Summary:
We are seeking a seasoned Azure DevOps (ADO) practitioner to serve as a trusted advisor during the transition to a centralized Azure DevOps instance. This is not a development role. The individual will partner closely with the FD&E leadership and project teams to ensure ADO is configured to support portfolio visibility, standardized reporting, and future application-based portfolio management.
The ADO Technical Lead will provide guidance on configuration, best practices, and onboarding, enabling teams to work efficiently without pulling them away from delivery tasks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as a subject matter expert on Azure DevOps, including structure, standards, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with the project lead to translate portfolio and reporting requirements into ADO-ready configurations.
  • Provide guidance on ADO work item hierarchy, fields, processes, queries, and dashboards.
  • Set up and validate ADO dashboards and native reporting (Power BI not required).
  • Advise on Service Tree alignment and ensure ADO data supports portfolio management structures.
  • Support TPM onboarding, ensuring adherence to defined ADO standards and conventions.
  • Respond to frequent ADO questions with clarity and patience.
  • Act as a bridge between portfolio requirements and ADO capabilities.
  • Ensure ADO is configured to enable future portfolio management via custom applications.

Required Skills & Experience:
  • Strong hands-on experience with Azure DevOps (ADO).
  • Deep understanding of ADO structure, capabilities, and limitations.
  • Experience building and maintaining ADO dashboards, queries, and views.
  • Familiarity with Service Tree concepts and mapping engineering work to services.
  • Knowledge of Azure/Microsoft standard definitions and governance models.
  • Excellent spoken and written English communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate closely with TPMs, portfolio leads, and stakeholders.
  • Comfortable acting as an advisor rather than a developer.
