Job Title: Azure DevOps (ADO) Practitioner / Technical Lead
Location: Remote (PST Time Zone Preferred)
Duration: 6–12 Months Contract

Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced Azure DevOps (ADO) Practitioner to act as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert during the transition to a centralized Azure DevOps environment. This is a non-development role focused on enabling effective portfolio visibility, standardized reporting, and scalable DevOps practices.
The ideal candidate will work closely with leadership and project stakeholders to ensure Azure DevOps is configured and utilized in alignment with best practices, without impacting delivery team productivity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for Azure DevOps, including structure, governance, and best practices
  • Collaborate with project leadership to translate portfolio and reporting requirements into ADO configurations
  • Provide guidance on work item hierarchy, custom fields, processes, queries, and dashboards
  • Configure and validate ADO dashboards and native reporting capabilities (no external BI tools)
  • Advise on aligning ADO structures with service-oriented frameworks (e.g., Service Tree concepts)
  • Support onboarding of teams to Azure DevOps, ensuring adherence to defined standards and conventions
  • Address day-to-day queries related to ADO usage with clarity and efficiency
  • Act as a liaison between business/portfolio needs and ADO platform capabilities
  • Ensure ADO setup supports future scalability and integration with portfolio management solutions

Required Skills & Experience
  • Strong hands-on experience with Azure DevOps (ADO)
  • Deep understanding of ADO architecture, features, and limitations
  • Proven experience building dashboards, queries, and reporting within ADO
  • Knowledge of service-based architecture mapping (e.g., Service Tree or similar concepts)
  • Familiarity with Azure and enterprise governance standards
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with TPMs, program managers, and cross-functional teams
  • Comfortable working in an advisory/consultative role rather than a developer position

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in large-scale ADO implementations, migrations, or transformations
  • Background as a Technical Program Manager (TPM), Program Manager, or ADO Administrator
  • Exposure to enterprise engineering environments and governance models
  • Interest or experience in AI-assisted tools (e.g., Copilot)
