About the Role
We're looking for a detail-oriented Finance & Accounting Analyst with 5–7 years of experience to support our multi-entity accounting operations and business unit financial reporting. This role bridges accounting execution and finance analysis: you'll work closely with our Assistant Controller on month-end close while also partnering with business unit GMs on financial performance and reporting.
You'll report to our US-based Director of Finance and work hands-on in QuickBooks Online, Ramp, Syft, and Google Sheets. Beyond executing established processes, you'll improve them by identifying inefficiencies, strengthening controls, and translating financial data into actionable insights for business leaders.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both the precision of accounting operations and the analytical challenge of explaining "why the numbers moved." You'll ensure accurate, timely reporting while helping GMs understand their financial performance and supporting our Assistant Controller during month-end close.
What You'll Do Daily
Business Unit Reporting & Analysis (35–45%)
Build and maintain BU dashboards and board reporting packages in Syft
Prepare monthly variance analysis (MoM and Budget vs. Actual) for GM reviews
Partner with GMs to understand their reporting needs and business drivers
Investigate and explain revenue, expense, and margin variances
Translate financial data into clear business insights for non-finance stakeholders
Support ad-hoc analysis requests from business units
Month-End Close Support (30–45%)
Support Assistant Controller on assigned reconciliations and close tasks
Own deferred revenue recognition across SaaS products
Prepare journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations for review
Analyze account balances and proactively investigate discrepancies
Coordinate intercompany and cross-BU transactions
Ensure assigned close tasks are completed accurately and on schedule
Expense Management & Operational Reporting (5–15%)
Own Ramp expense reporting, categorization, and trend analysis
Review expense coding for accuracy and consistency across BUs
Monitor expense trends and flag anomalies or policy issues proactively
Maintain reporting dashboards and BU-level financial templates
Ensure data integrity between accounting systems and reporting outputs
Improve workflows between QuickBooks, Ramp, Syft, and other platforms
Process Improvement & Documentation (5%)
Identify opportunities to streamline reporting and close processes
Document financial processes and improve cross-functional workflows
Strengthen controls and data quality across systems
Support audit preparation and financial controls documentation
What Success Looks Like
In Month 1–2:
You independently manage assigned reconciliations and reporting tasks
You understand the multi-entity structure and BU business models
You begin building relationships with GM stakeholders
In Month 3–6:
BU variance analysis is insightful and proactive (GMs come to you with questions)
Syft dashboards and board packages run smoothly with minimal rework
You support month-end close efficiently and catch issues before escalation
Deferred revenue recognition is clean and well-documented
In Month 6–12:
You operate as the go-to person for BU financial reporting and GM questions
You proactively identify trends and insights before being asked
You contribute meaningful process improvements that save time or increase accuracy
You provide reliable backup coverage for Assistant Controller when needed
Requirements
Essential:
5–7 years of accounting or finance operations experience
Month-end close experience, including reconciliations and journal entries
Experience working in multi-entity or multi-business-unit environments
Strong analytical skills: comfortable explaining variances and digging into "why"
Experience with QuickBooks Online or other cloud accounting platforms
Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills (pivot tables, lookups, data modeling, variance analysis)
Understanding of US GAAP fundamentals
Experience with financial reporting tools and dashboards
AI-savvy: Uses AI to work smarter while maintaining quality and judgment
Clear written English communication for async collaboration
Availability for 4–5 hours overlap with US Eastern Time
Preferred:
SaaS, technology, or e-commerce experience (deferred revenue, MRR, cohorts)
Familiarity with expense management platforms (Ramp, Expensify, Brex, etc.)
Experience with financial reporting/BI tools (Syft, Fathom, QuickBooks, etc.)
Previous experience supporting business unit leaders or non-finance stakeholders
Experience improving financial processes or building reporting infrastructure
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
What Makes Someone Successful in This Role
You connect accounting to the business.
You don't just reconcile deferred revenue. You explain to a GM why their MRR changed month-over-month.
You think in systems.
When reporting feels manual or fragile, you propose a better way and build it.
You balance precision with speed.
You know when "perfect" matters (close reconciliations) and when "good enough to make a decision" is better (ad-hoc analysis).
You communicate for your audience.
You translate technical accounting into plain English for GMs and provide rigorous detail for the Assistant Controller.
You want to grow your finance skillset.
You're motivated to deepen your expertise in SaaS financial operations and expand from accounting execution into strategic finance analysis over time.
