Job Description:
Position Purpose:
The Business Analyst, Operational Excellence exists to support The Salvation Army in Canada’s digital transformation by ensuring that Workday HR Systems are thoughtfully designed, implemented, and sustained to improve the overall people experience. The role bridges HR, technology, and data by translating business needs into effective processes, operating procedures, and system functionality. Through HR analytics, process improvement, change management, and reporting, this position enables data-driven decision-making that strengthens operational excellence. Ultimately, the role helps HR teams and leaders better support staff and mission delivery through efficient, reliable, and insight-driven HR systems.
Key Accountabilities:
Analyze HR data needs and trends by partnering with stakeholders across the organization to deliver accurate, timely people analytics that inform leadership decision-making.
Translate business requirements into practical HR processes, reports, and system solutions that improve data quality, consistency, and usability.
Develop and deliver HR dashboards, reports, and analytics enhancements within cloud-based systems to measure progress and drive continuous improvement.
Optimize HR data capture, tracking, and governance by reviewing existing processes and recommending improvements that enhance accuracy and reliability.
Manage end-to-end HR data migration, mapping, auditing, and reconciliation activities to ensure data integrity and minimize implementation risk.
Coordinate cross-functional project activities, including requirements documentation, release planning, testing, and vendor solution reviews, to support successful system deployments.
Guide HR teams and stakeholders through people experience, change management, and communication impacts to enable adoption of new processes and technologies.
Monitor risks, gaps, and issues related to HR data and processes, escalating and resolving items through established change management and governance structures.
Work across multiple project streams to understand knowledge, guided workspace, help text, notifications and other PEX implications for Workday processes.
Prepare release plans including migration risk, milestones, quality, change management, communication and business sign-off details in conjunction with the IT team.
Education and Experience Qualifications:
A university degree in computer science or an approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
7 – 10 years previous Data analysis migration project experience leading and participating in Workday HR system implementation migration projects.
3-5 years of Workday Experience including business process, reporting and demand management.
2 -3 years previous experience in Data Governance.
Demonstrated expertise in Workday reporting and/or certified proficiency within a Workday functional area.
Proven experience contributing to large, complex initiatives across multi-system and multi-entity environments.
Strong background working within delivery teams on highly visible, high-priority projects of significant scale.
Hands-on experience operating in Agile project environments.
Proficient in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint for effective documentation and presentations.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel to support data analysis and reporting needs.
High self-awareness with the ability to identify development needs and proactively build skills and capabilities.
Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the flexibility to adapt in fast-paced, changing environments.
Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $85,321.60 to $106,641.60 with a maximum of $127,982.40.Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
